Best way to tighten crank pulley bolt =??

The spec for the crank pulley bolt is 74 ft-lbs + 90* rotation of the bolt.

I wanted to check what is the best way to prevent the crank from rotating while doing this. Is just leaving the cam alignment tool in place enough, or is that asking too much of the timing chain and cams? I do have the oil pan off so have some access to the flywheel. I could also make a spanner and try to hold the pulley...

The second option would be an impact with some loctite, but I prefer to do as much as possible by the book.

there is a hole in the pulley that lines up with a threaded hole in the block.. put a bolt in there to hold it I want to say it is a 6mm bolt..

Really? Are you sure you're not thinking of the axle nut?

OK, I just dug up my CFM underdrive pulley install instructions. Read through them and gave CFM a call for confirmation. They say that the timing peg that threads through the back of the block and hits the crankshaft will hold everything in place sufficiently. I am still kinda sketched out since the peg cantelivers out from the block a good inch or so before it locks with the crank.

now that I think of it I did bend the bolt when I did mine.. a strap wrench would also work with the bolt implace as well.....I would not use an impact wrench... and if the car is a stick then the brake thing would work. but I would deffinitely use the bolt as well...I also did a crank position sensor realignment... after awhile I was just afraid of the bolt bending puting it just slightly out of alignment

there is a little generic plastic tool that comes with a sensor if you buy a new one.
