I look at Ducati's in the same light as Ferraris. They are great machines, but you never see many with any mileage on them. Its tough for me to justify buying something like that knowing that it won't get used much. I looked at buying a 748 back when I had my GSXR600, and decided against it after taking a closer look at the bike. The bike is horribly uncomfortable. It made the Suzuki feel like a touring bike. Its a work of art....not hardly something you'd want to thrash on a backroad. They are delicate, finicky machines that require as much time in maintenance as they do in use. They are one of the most beautiful of all modern motorcycles, but it comes at a price.
Later I ended up getting a TL1000 to get my V-twin fix. Its a different style of riding for sure. Some people like it, others don't. I prefer inline 4's myself.
