hey guys - I'm wondering if any of you have a Ducati 748? Any opinion about the bikes in general? Not really looking into anything else at this point as I have a great deal lined up and always loved the Ducati 748 since they came out...

Thanks, Ollie

great bikes, long as you have some extra cash layin around if somethin happens. god overall power, very aggressive riding position, good handling. if you really want one and find a god deal on one then go for it. but fair warning they can get expensive for maintanance and parts

Ollie, now I am starting to dislike you. ;)

I know 888's from the Ducati Race team I worked with in Colorado. I have alwasy liked the Monsters. I can hear a Duc a mile away. Real easy with the clutch chatter.

They 748(along with the 916, 996 and 998) are one of Ducati's best looking bikes ever, where as the 749 and 999 are regaurded as one of the worst looking(I Like them though). If you can get it then I would, since it is a Ducati and is such a desireable style I can't imagine it depreciating to much. The 916 is one of my dream bikes(all because of Fled) and if I every get the opportunity to buy one I will.

And least comfortable... I'm getting carpel tunnel just thinking about it. :p

Very aggressive exotics. :)

*POOOF* goes the dream...after a 'nice' lil arguement with the wife I have to pass...I swear...

Checked it out today and fell in love...guess someone else is getting a hell of a bike...AWESOME...now I can piss along 'pud-pud' style in my f'in dawg jeep...The fact that I grew up around bikes apparently does not matter...I guess everything comes to an end...even dreams.

/End Thread... :screwy: :lock: :bang:  :garage:

I look at Ducati's in the same light as Ferraris. They are great machines, but you never see many with any mileage on them. Its tough for me to justify buying something like that knowing that it won't get used much. I looked at buying a 748 back when I had my GSXR600, and decided against it after taking a closer look at the bike. The bike is horribly uncomfortable. It made the Suzuki feel like a touring bike. Its a work of art....not hardly something you'd want to thrash on a backroad. They are delicate, finicky machines that require as much time in maintenance as they do in use. They are one of the most beautiful of all modern motorcycles, but it comes at a price.

Later I ended up getting a TL1000 to get my V-twin fix. Its a different style of riding for sure. Some people like it, others don't. I prefer inline 4's myself.

yeah - I'm with you. I'm well aware of what ducati's are and require. And I am willing to put up with it...I have been a fan since they came out. A friend of mine in Germany has one and he told me once 'Italian build my friend...the sun shines outside and you wanna go for a ride...thing won't turn on...than the next day it rains cats and dogs...and she starts right up...' LOL....That actually happened to him...

Always dreamed about 'one day you have yourself one of these'...*POOF*...there goes that dream...today was like having an awesome dream...and than, within a freaking split second, the alarm goes off and reality kicks back in...BLAH..whatever...I gotta quit thinking about it now...so pissed.

Damn Ollie, sorry for that. For some reason I can picture Jackie "Putting her foot down" and saying no. Did your dad ride bikes? Is he taller than you? Too bad ypu are not turning 40 and then you could justify going out and getting it anyways. ;)
