It's probably the same stuff they use to do full wraps with. 3M Arlon lasts forever if treated right, and you can even wax it. That's all they used at Modern Image when I was there.

Even cooler - you could have something imaged on vinyl, coated, and then put on your roof.

There's 'glowing' vinyl now, along with all the good ol' standbys like reflective, engine turned, kandies, mylar, etc.

They sky's the limit with that stuff these days.

I'm debating if it is a better idea than respraying my roof... at least temporarily.

My Focus is now over eight years old, and the sun finally got to the top... and until I can park in the garage on a daily basis, a temporary fix might be just fine.

This is old news, they have been doing full wrap cars for years now. Most Taxi's are done this way now. it is cheaper and preserves the paint for later resale.

Yea.

I love how this is autoblog worthy, but stuff like this has been around for a long time. Hell, half the restaurant cars here in town are covered in the stuff.

Lol. I posted the exact same thing.

The only reason you beat me: my brain was kind of boggled with trying to spell restaurant. It's an odd spelling.

No need to downplay an article just because some people have prior knowledge of it.

Is there some reason the rest of the world can't learn it as well, or are they simply relegated to the permanent ignorant bin?

Ease up, guys. If you already know about it, move on to the next topic.

I was really hoping this would be an article about someone who covered his BMW in actual white tape.
Kind of like a couple years ago those guys covered that Audi with blue painters tape before an across country drive.

I think this made headlines because of the reason he did it. Most people have seen cars wrapped with graphics for the purpose of advertising, but most people wouldn't spend the money just because they are "bored" with the color of their car... not to mention they got bored with a Black BMW ( some how that is possible). It's a quirky story and a great add for the vinyl wrap product.

No actually it is pretty common here in Germany. Just watched a news program (N24) where they did the same to a Blue VW Beetle. There is a local SMALL sign shop and they do at least one car a month there. Really it has been around for a while. Busses here are completely covered in it, to include the windows.
