Hi there,

I'm crazy... I know.

I just bought a Focus 1999 T 1.8 Diesel, and the bonnet is jammed.
I knew it was before purchase (the seller said it required oil).

I checked a few forums, and they suggested WD40... 1/2 a can..... job done!

I've tried that, and it didn't work.
I took it to a local car garage, they oiled it, and we put pressure on the bonnet while jiggling the key.

No joy :(

Any ideas?

I'd really like to see the engine as (i know i'm crazy) didn't see under the hood on purchase.

Cheers in advance!

Hi Cyber-Lee,

It's yourself typing here...

I hear you got a new key cut for £65, and it works like a treat!
Bonnet open, job done!

Good job fella!

I'm a little confused though...
A key for the Bonnet?
Ours only use a key for the doors and the boot...
For the bonnet, we just have a "T" handle near the fusebox... Pull it and the latch releases.

O that's what a bonnet is? Ya in the euro grill, the ford emblem swivels and the key slot is in there. It is weird, but hey if someone breaks into their car they cant get in engine bay haha.

That makes much more sense.. all vehicles should be like this. My previous vehicle had the T handle. I don't know why they designed the UK Ford with a bonnet opened via a key.

Strange.

I'm getting me a U.S Import.

Yes... I can only assume it's a security measure.
I couldn't even get into the bonnet when I bought it... that was a risky purchase!

I've had a new key cut (that opens bonnet, trunk, doors and starts the engine). So my problem is solved.

Phew!
