Excellent! And about time somebody did more than just promise.

I just jumped on one... had to buy while the price was soooo right.

Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to follow up on this and bump it for EXCELLENCE! Here's what I got in my email today (sponsors of this site, please, take note):

"Hi Guys,

You are getting this email because you purchased one of the 2nd group of housings. We just got an update from the machine shop that the housings are only 40% done and the ETA is now 5/16/13.

Bummer I know, but this isn't unusual unfortunately. Small batches like 20 at a time often get bumped for larger customers. It's not really a regular occurance, but it happens often enough that it impacts shipping estimates and screws with people's plans.

In any case, I'll stay on top of these guys and keep you all posted as to what I hear. I can also tell you that it's worth the wait in that they do excellent work, which is better than having a crappy part in hand sooner.

Thanks for being part of the 2nd run!

-Jim"

These guys are the "real deal". Beautiful, functional, necessary parts, and customer service with follow-up communication, rather than promises that never become reality, or boastful arrogance, or negligent silence... several of our sponsors could learn from these guys. I wish Bostig made more than just this part for Focus-bound Zetecs, they'd get my money (unless I specifically needed OEM stuff).

I got that too... these guys have great customer service, they actually update their customers.

This will fit a SVT correct?
It can probably be made to fit, but it is intended for a regular Zetec. The guys who make them fab parts for converting a VW bus to accept a Zetec motor, and being VW guys they don't like plastic parts that fail easily... go figure.

That thing was too beautiful, at too nice a price, to pass up!

Way cool what they are doing with the zetec in the vanagon, too! When the going gets weird, the weird get going!

not a bad design, i like my black and silver HTP one, shame they screwed people over but my housing from them has been awesome so far.

It should fit... the hoses come out at the same locations as the stock unit. The only fit issue anybody should have is if you have an EGR tube. Then the install will take longer and the unit will have to be protected from EGR heat.

CXCZX3, I hope your turboed engine allows you an easier install. I went to install mine yesterday and found there is a small, but significant, roadblock for NA cars with EGR systems... the top two bolts for the stock unit line-up with the EGR tube. This is not a problem with the stock housing, since it uses hex bolts that tighten flush with the face of the housing. But the Bostig unit uses recessed allen bolts in all locations... that combined with the extra width of the Bostig unit, which places it closer to the EGR tube, makes it impossible to get a tool into the allen head for tightening. Too bad these units were not made with a Focus Zetec in mind.

I'm currently considering the merits of various workarounds. So far it seems to me there are four options:

1 Detach the mounting points for the EGR tube and try to temporarily push it out of the way, or temporarily remove it entirely.
2 Replace the stock tube with a different tube.
3 Remove and plug the EGR system entirely.
4 Take the Bostig unit to a machinist and have the recesses removed so a hex bolt will fit.

It seems to me that only the first one makes any sense, in cost and effort. Even so, the tube is high strength and not very malleable/ductile, and detaching it means more general disassembly, adding a couple hours to an already messy job. The reason I don't do number 3 (although I have a 91 octane EGR delete tune on my xcal) is that you lose milage without the EGR system.

The way I see it, install will require: Buy additional heat shielding for the tube, because the tube will be very close to (may almost touch) the unit when done. Remove the battery to open workspace. Remove coil and bracket to open workspace. Detach the EGR tube from ORP (or cat), remove front securing bolt, and remove all EGR valve attachment and back-tube bolts. Then proceed with replacement of housing. Reverse.

The good thing is that after the install is complete, it should NEVER be necessary to replace the housing again for the life of the engine.

Won't be an issue for me as i have no egr and the battery is moved to the rear. That area is pretty much wide open on my car.

Is it still possible to get these? Mine is starting to leak and I'm finishing up my turbo build.
