I have a little problem. My car did not come equiped with the mounting for the rear sway bar. I heard that someone in here could do the mounting brackets. I would like to get some info or specs so that I could either purchase or fab my own brackets.

Thanks!

You're new, so I'll let it slide just this once.

Ordinarily you'd get the "Search is your Friend!" lecture.....

I believe the following links continue the answers you seek.

You're very welcome.

seige123.... get the whole crossmember or you might have problems... is cheaper in the long run and is around 250 installed from a junk yard

I am trying to get the retrofit Kit. I have messaged biscuitninja (I hear he makes them) and have asked how much his kit is.

Also, from reading the other threads, it seems there are problems with the mounting, but that is only when the rear sway bar is a big sucker. I will be installing a 22mm I think (roush kit sway bar).

Oh, I do have a question though that you guys might be able to help me on. The kit came with some lube fpor the sway bar. Where should this lube be placed?

Thank you very much for your help!

The roush swaybar is just a rebadged progress 22mm rear bar. If yours didn't come with instructions, all you really need to know is the tube of grease goes on the inside of those D-bushings (where the bar and the D bushing mates), it allows the bar to move around when its clamped down. If you don't use the grease it'll just be really noisy

I don't know exactly what comes with the Roush setup, but know this. The Progress installation instructions make it very clear to re-use your existing sway bar U-brackets... these are the things painted red in the above link and would normally be the things holding the D bushings to the subframe. So you put it together like, bar then D-bushing, then the supplied U-bracket over that, and then the stock U-bracket on TOP OF THE SUPPLIED ONE. If you don't do this the thing will just break off, since the supplied one is really thin. You can probably get a set of these from a junker focus for like $10.
Like I said I don't know if it has instructions for this, or if they even give you one with the kit.

Johnny, Thanks for the info on the grease. Also, you are correct in that they do not mention to put on the oem bracket and since I do not have the oem mounting for the sway bar I will take your advise and buy the oem brackets from a junk yard when I get the retrofit kit.

Thank you all very much for the info.

I just got word that biscuit nija does not make the retrofit package anymore. Anyone know a person who does or does anyone have the schematics so I can get someone to fab it?

Hmm, I guess my previous statement doesn't help much then.

How about, Biscuitninja's mount kit "Was" the best one going.

I asked him and he told me "good luck" basically. He mentioned that not enough people were asking for them. Duckmans, thanks for the link. I will be ordering the part tomorrow and looking for the oem brackets at a junk yard. Just a quick question though but can I buy brackets from like cfm and mount them instead of oem? I know i saw the brackets sold seperately somewhere...(fordparts.com duh)

I was just thinking...Would this retrofit kit be able to be used on any sway bar mounting bracket?

No problem. Just to let you know I did not use a kit. My car came with the sway bar. I have no idea about the brackets. Good luck

And what problems will you have?

With 20,000+ miles on my sway bar retrofit kit I've had zero problems.
well... mine wiggle itself out on the right side so it will come loose... the right will alwaya pop... not to mention that it looked like the bar was not bent right... another thing... your bar sits way to close to the crossmember bar, and kinda of pulls on yours control arms. the stock sway bar mounts stick it out about 1-1/2 inch

but then again... i realize patching things is like doing the job twice... i learn hard with this focus...

Eibach makes add-on mount brackets for the rear. I can't find my invoice, and don't remember how much they were- too much I think, and I have a complaint about both holes in the saddle brackets being slotted- maybe they changed that by now? Anyway, they work, and its another option.

I may have posted this before, but the short coming of all retrofit clamp kits is they attach to the anti-roll bar inboard of the stock location. Ideally, a bar is designed to twist (like a torsion bar) not bend like a spring. By not supporting the outer most points, more of the force from the wheel will translate to bending rather than twisting.

My solution after using my own clamps for awhile was to fabricate some very simple brackets and have them welded to the subframe (I have have access to a welder, but I would guess most independent exhaust shops would do this quickly for a low cost). The brackets were 1/8" wall 1"x1" square tube (You can buy this at Fastenal.com in increments of 1") with two mount holes drilled through them. These are welded in the stock location with the top hole aligned with the hole in the subframe.

I then ground down flange nuts (so they fit, but can't spin) and slid them up inside the square tube. This has the added advantage over stock in that if the bolts ever rust, you can just cut them and the nut will drop out.

I've done a bit of custom suspension tuning over the years and have a pretty sensitive seat-of-my-pants. The difference was appreciable vs. clamps.

My buddy Aaron has been running around for two years with a retro-fit kit that we made from scratch using stock C-brackets and an OEM bar with Prothane endlinks for over two years now with absolutley ZERO problems:

Also, what's this that people are saying about having to use the OEM brackets IN ADDITION to the supplied brackets with the Progress bar???

I've had a Progress bar on my car for over four years and 50K miles with nothing but the supplied brackets (I bought the car with the bar installed already), and have never had a problem with anything relating to them.
