ok...my friend was tryin to do a "burnout" the other day (its a dodge stratus so it wouldnt be much more than a lil wheel spin but we wanted to try anyway) so he decides he is gonna pull the ebrake and give it gas. well we did this and he gave it a lil gas and like the whole car "squatted" and felt like it went down about 4 inches! i am just wonderin if doin this will hurt the car and will even allow him to spin wheels?? (and i dont want any smart a** remarks like "well why doesnt he just get somethin to make it so he can do a burnout") thanks

Auto trans or 5speed?

the squatting is the suspension compressing, not sure it it's bad or not

Well the E-brake locks the non-driving wheels up. SO the driving wheels start to turn but the others dont. this cause the suspension to compress. If he were to give it a lot of gas at once, im sure it would spin the tires. In a manual, you can probly lock the brake and then drop the clutch while the RPMS are at a descent speed. This is not a good thing to do but it would probly spin the tires to. I would know, i havent tried it. L8er jon

its actually an auto WITH an optional auto-stick...its really cool actually. he has both an auto and manual. i wish my car was like it! i was drivin it and the only thing is that there is some delay between when you shift and when it actually shifts (like half a second) but i like it! and he would be doin it in auto so he wouldnt have to worry about the clutch and all. thanks for the quick responses tho!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Isn't autostick a "clutchless manual" that is effectively an automatic transmission that lets you generally control what gear it's in?

what to do. pull the e-brake. mash the brake pedal. mash the gas and then when the rpms stop climing (right now you are doing a torque converter stall test, but dont wory about that right now)(do not do this for to long of a time(5 sec is too much))) let off the brake and continue to mash the gas. probably one whell will spinn. thats bad (not that a burn out is good). turn the wheel left and right and you should be able to get the other tire spinning.

I tried that in my exes new Eclipse auto. They have non-defeateable traction control so all I could do no matter how hard I tried was a little chirp. I'm not sure if Chrysler and Mitsubishi still share certain components or not but I'm sure that's the problem.
