buying an \'04 euro - advice needed

I think I'm going to buy a Euro SVT in Sonic Blue tomorrow. The dealer is telling me they can get me in it for 19k with destination before rebates and tax. Is this a great deal or have people done better?

Next, what do I need to pay attention to? I have a ZX3 and infrequently read up in here. Should I ask what ecu flash it has? Should I be listenening or feeling for anything out of the ordinary on the test drive?

i got mine for 21895 (around that) before tax and rebates, 18895 after rebate. So 19k before rebates and tax is awesome for a euro edition svt (make sure it really is a euro).

$19K is Fine if you ask me. If you are in doubt just go price a similiar equiped ZX3/ZX5 SES and see what those go for. The only advice I have is pay attention to first gear just to make sure that you can live with it. It doesn't get better with time so take off in a normal manner then boost up the RPM's to lets say about 2,500 when engaging the clutch. Also, make sure that anything that you don't like (pinstriping, dealer decal) is adressed prior to signing.

I had to get my '03 reflashed, but my understanding is you're probably okay with an '04.
The '04s have startup issues- must not be as bad as the others since I'm living with it.

I paid $17k for my non-euro SVTF 5 door... so $19k euro sounds right.

Well the 04's can have some minor issues too, nothing to sweat. I think that the SVTF is probably the worst possible car that I have had as far as "start it up and drive it, put some gas in it" goes. It's finicky and to a moderate level high maintenance. You have to be able to literally love a car to keep it going smooth. I don't trash mine out on the road but I drive with enthusiasm and understand that there will be associated cost that I incur because of it. I love my Euro!
