so i have a little issue. my foot is a little big for my clutch pedal and one rainy day i got into my focus and was driving and my foot slipped and kicked out the bypass clutch safety switch, this has happened to me once before and i was just able to slip it back into the housing and i was good to go. But this time the entire housing fell off and broke into a few pieces.

now i just have the safety switch hanging from the pedals and in order to start my car i have to take a copper penny and push it on the copper part of the safety switch and start the car. This is VERY VERY annoying and outrageous that i have to do this.

is there like an official way to bypass the switch ? i was thinking of just taping a copper penny to the switch so its always completing the circuit.

Pull off that C-Clamp and remove the broken part of the connector. Then insert 1 wire in both holes in the connector Then Tape it. DO NOT CUT IT !! You will want to get a new switch eventually, In fact you should get in touch with Steve @ tulsey ford to see how much a switch is.

**edit** Looks like it's about 40 bucks (according to Mitchell on demand)

well i see how the switch works. when you press down on the clutch it pushes a little rod in the housing that pushes a copper plating onto the switch part that completes the ciruct to start the car. if i just tape a copper penny onto the switch it will always be complete 24/7. is this safe to do ?

The problem with doing that is vibration can cause random no-start conditions between the penny and the 2 contacts. If it works then I guess it's ok ? Just be careful and remember to push in the clutch before cranking your car over. I have mine bypassed as well but I act as if the switch still works.

Something to remember too your cruise control will not set if it has the switch bypassed.

Sure, you can bypass it.

I've owned four cars that never had a clutch interlock switch... it isn't a big deal, in my opinion.

Back in the day, people knew enough about how a car worked that they had some sense before turning the key.

That said, I'm not liable if some doof rams their car into the garage door trying to crank it over.

heres a idea take the wires and wire up a toggle switch to them ;) that way when you dont want to have it running itll be off and never come on till you flip the switch
