Ok had my cam gear on for a while, and its finally annoying me to no end, I have a cel ever since they were installed, my other buddy with a svt says this is normal but there is a special fix for it, im wondering if anyone on this forum knows what it is, if its easy, and therefore can i do it because i am inpateint. I have a 2003 SVT with only exhuast gear.

well u'll be losing massive ammounts of low rpm power with that cel becuase it'll disable the vct .. which also affects ignition timing ..

u should have it installed properly .
is your car timed properly? do you know what the error code is? find out exactly what the error code is and you can pinpoint the problem.
I had the error code way back, I want to say it was exhuast cam too far advanced, Morewood said he had a problem like this with his but his buddy fixed his, I have no clue though.

I believe its the Intake Cam gear is misalligned. I had it soon after I installed my exhaust cam gear.
Can your buddy do the fix this week, how long does it take, what is involved... I hate the CEL LIGHT

i'm guessing one of the two intake cam errors ..

over advanced
or
over retarded

and either way you can fix it . but u'll need to
- pop off the valve cover,
- loosen the cam gears bolts,
- apply cam alignment tool
- align crank position to the little tdc mark
- before you tighten the intake cam gear. check to make sure the spring has it pushed back into it's resting position.
- tighten the cam gears bolts

WOW......
Great info. I have wanted to install the cam gear I purchased about 6 months ago but noone locally convinced me of their expertise to complete the job. I can now print this out and give it to my buddy that has the tools but not the directions. Thanks a BUNCH
