Title asks the Q.
I would like to get a chip for racing, but I'd like to run 87 gas for the 3-4 weeks between events. I don't care for the idea of having to run Premium all the time. ($$$$)
So, What's the word?

as far as I know it can I take mine out whenever I have to go the dealer to have something done. Ask Cajan he is the best one to answer chip questions and to get the chips from.

You could always get a flipchip wich lets your turn the chip on and off.
You could put your chip in and out before and after events but its kinda a pain to pull the ECM out everytime you want to do this.
I would go with a flipchip.I believe they have them up to 4 different programs now.

Who makes this "Flipchip"??
Details?
See Omni's running in a Stock class, so he has to have it off or out for racing.
I run STS, which allows a chip, but I don't want to HAVE TO run 93 Octane on my budget.
Please tell me more about my options.
Thanks.

You can remove the chip at any time. You should disconnect the battery when you do so the ECU will reset any "learned" trim values.

The chip that Tom and I are selling is capable of up to four programs! For example:

1-street, 87 octane
2-strip, 93 octane
3-valet mode (4k rev limit, 60mph speed limit)
4-kill mode, won't start

or any combo of 4 you like.

You must turn off the ignition b4 selecting the program you wish to run on.

If you are interested in the four way option I will connect 6' of wire and a rotary switch that you can mount anywhere you want. The switch has four positions, A, B, C, D. Kill the ignition, make your selection, restart & go...

I am waiting on more switches but should have them soon.

Custom 1 program chip: $xxx
Four-way programmed w/ switch: $more
Reprogram charge if U change yer mind later: $less
Freight for any of the above: $15

PM me for pricing...

Program possiblities include:

stick shift Foci only, working on the auto's
rev limit, max 7000 for now

speed limiter (55 for the teen son? hehe)
axle ratio (tire size?)
fan turn on/off temps
EGR active/inactive
idle speed
timing/fuel adjustments
throttle response parameters
MAF/injector calibrations
return fuel system settings

Need something to test? I can do a base setting then +3%, +6%, +9% fuel to try. The combinations are limitless.

I will do mail order chips for any naturally aspirated combinations with 100% confidence. I will want to discuss the changes you are interested in and what I can do for your combination.

For boosted applications, we will send you a chip only with the 42# MAF/injector combination. Seek out Tom. We have put a HUGE amount of time into tweaking this package.

We have tested about a dozen of these 42# MAF/inj combos now on the dyno here and I feel that we can support most turbo or supercharger combinations up to about 250 wheel horsepower.

There is some variability in the MAF calibrations in the low range that has me somewhat frustrated and is causing some idle and part throttle fueling issues (usually a bit rich...) If you can suffer through that (I have only had to redo 2) everyone has been real pleased with the power & reliability. We have mailed about a dozen chips now for boosted applications.

Total boosted Focus experience is over 25 cars, half have been to the dyno here, 4-5 mail order chips have gone to their dynos as well.

Adeptpunk38 has one of the 4 program chips. I have seen it in action. With just a few mods and a full on chip, he was running 15.7's. Just the differences in the fuel mix made a huge difference in his times. The Gold Nugget was ripping!

i am having tom do my turbo application with adjustable boost, low boost for 93 octane, high boost for 110 octane at the track. the higher boost will output more HP, do you think your chip will still handle it okay, even with all the electrical problems tom has been exibiting lately?
