I have a 2002 zx3 and lately this problem has arisen.

When driving the car is fine, but at a stop while holding the brake, my revs drop and come back up, drop and come back up, and sometimes they just fall all the way and the car stalls. Diagnosis? I have an aem short ram and stock TB. I am assuming this is a maf related problem?

Help please and many thanks in advance

most times, you'll find a large intake leak ahead of the MAFS. Something like the intake coupler coming off the throttle body.

If you dont find anything, you can try unplugging the MAFS and seeing if the problem gets better.

This happened to me during the summer and what sucked is taht i havea manunal. so i would have to use my left foot to keep the clutch in and use my right foot to break and gas it up whenever at a stop. took it to quality care and they billed me liek 300 to fix it, if i recall it had something to do with the computer. it sucked though, couldn't drive it.

How and where do I check for a vacccum leak?
Vacuum leak would be somewhere on the intake manifold. You can spray some brake parts cleaner or starting fluid around the intake manifold while the engine is running. If there is a vacuum leak, it will suck the spray in and your idle will temporarily go up.

Another, possibly easier option for diag, is to unplug your IAC with the car running. If it stalls, try to start it back up with the IAC still unplugged. Post how if affects your idle.
