I've started this thread for the previous two years so I'll start it again this year. Who all is going to participate in the autocross this year?

Last year I couldn't autocross Sonic since I had a wheel bearing going bad, but hopefully I'll be able to this year a long as I can get my tie rods replaced in time. I no longer have a set of dedicated autocross wheels/tire, so I'll be on my daily wheels, but that won't stop me from the fun!

In 2010 I took the overall win in Sonic, beating out Merkurs, Mustangs, and Cobras in the process:

In 2011 I took the overall win in Justin's slammed Focus.

I hope to bring home the autocross win for the third straight year for the Focus community, but I know the Merkur guys will be out in full force trying to stop that from happening. Their top autocross guru hasn't made it to Carlisle the last two years, and then there's Ray if he decides to show up in his XR....he will definitely go for that overall win.

But no matter what happens, I want to see as many of you out there on the autocross course this year having fun! If you want any help or have any questions please feel free to ask. I've helped many Focus Rising attendees try autocross for the first time at the Carlisle Ford Nationals.

I'll even ride along with you if you want, or you can ride along with me in my car, or I'll drive your car if you want that. Even if it's some simple pointers out there, I want to see everyone have fun!

So please think about participating in the autocross this year. The price in the past has been $20 for three runs, and they have let you run again in a different heat if you pay another $20!

:D

I think I'm going to do it this year... I would LOVE to ride along with you for 1 run Jason, have you ride with me, then have you drive my car... If that's allowed? Not sure. But I would love to participate. It looked like a lot of fun last year.

And you drove the crap out of Justins car, haha.

What kind of tires would be best for this? I should have you drive my yellow focus Jason. It's got power and brakes (Brembo 305mm kit). I also have the the lightest wheels you'll ever see on a foci. 17x8 13lbs

DAMN those are LIGHT!

The best tires are obviously those for summer use. Something like Dunlop Direzza Star Spec, Kumho XS, Bridgestone RE11s, etc... But you can run on any street tire. Tires will have more impact on time than power on their course. You never have to shift out of 2nd gear, so torque would be beneficialy however.

FR11 was my first ever auto-x run, and as small as the track may be, ive had one of the greatest adrenaline rushes. Def gonna be in it for FR12 and try to better myself.

Dad and I will be running again this year, him in the 03 and me in the 02. I've had a blast with it the last two years, even just beating on my 05 last year

The course is basically the same as they have very few options with that lot. If you watch the two videos I posted, you will see some differences.

In 2010 timing didn't start until the back straight then you had two identical laps and your time was accumulative of those two laps.

In 2011 timing started the instant you started moving from the start line and you still got two laps. However, after your second lap they eliminated the chicane after the last corner so it was a straight to the finish lights.
