Okay, I just thought of one: The Mini (28 City/36 highway). I know the base Mini isn't the car that most "enthusiasts" drool over, but it is still a cool little car, IMHO.

Actually, there are many Euro cars that are good on gas and cool, they just aren't avialible in the US.

I love my '95 GAS Jetta. 460 miles per tank divided by 14 gallon tank = 32.8 miles per gallon.

I <3 my A4 2.0T FSI...avg 34.9mpg on the highway. Overall, city and highway combined I get about avg 33

Jackie's A4 1.8T gets about avg 32mpg

and both are quattro

My last long trip in my old TBI Omni netted 37MPG @ 75MPH. More hill-pulling torque than a Focus, as you can leave it in fifth over the hills.

Not what some consider cool, but with a few yunkyard GLH parts tossed into place, I think they look good and handle awesome. 0-60 in the low nines, high 16 quarter mile... Certainly good enough for basic transportation.

I think anything that gets over 28mpg is good... Its not super ultra econo, but enough to where you really don't have to bitch about fuel consumption.

Spent a ton of time recently w/ the Cobalt SS and SRT-4 ACR, both non-Asian and pretty damn fun.

You know, I thought about not the Passat but the Jetta TDI... good fuel economy but the weight, power, auto-only, front bumper, etc... luxurious for that class? hell yeah. Fun... hell no.

The new Passat is very nice and in a TDI, I bet would be a wonderful car to drive everyday.

sorta with my friend, his WRX is far from stock and amazing......... and he drives this geo storm to work lol

I'll throw in my farvorite. Pontiac Fiero with the 2.5 and a 5spd. I get 34 mpg - 75% highway/25% city, and its unique and a lot of fun to drive....almost no body roll whatsoever. And great forum support as well. But I am kind of biased...

..and both the Festiva/Aspire run a Mazda B-series powerplant, for further confusion.

320 miles to 12 gallons = 27mpg... that's with a lead foot...

last trip to feenix: 390 miles to 11 gallons = 35.45mpg... that's 70% highway, 30% zoom_zoom city miles...

(not mine, but my gt looks extremely similar)

According to an advertisement I saw in the paper on Thursday, the 2005 Neon gets 36 MPG.

I'd like to see some proof of that, though.
