So my bolts that go to my header on my focus svt are completely rusted. I attempted to remove the nuts, but they are too rusted to get off, they end up just rounding. This was originally being done to replace the oil pan, since it is leaking.

My question is, are these bolts welded/pressed in to the cat, or are they bolts that can easily be hammered out? Everyone just keeps saying cut the bolts off, but getting them out will be the hard part lol.

Can you sneak the oil pan out without removing the pipe? (I was able in my 2002 ZX3). There's one bolt which is under the pipe you'll need a crows foot 8mm(?) to get out, but the rest weren't a problem.

I think that they are pressed in, but pretty tight.

On ours I carefully sliced off the rounded nubs of the nuts with a Dremel tool cutoff. Cuts in line with the stud long axis, barely into the stud thread, and a bit of help from a small chisel. Surprisingly, the stud threads under the nut were in pretty good shape, so I just installed new copper plated nuts. A fiddly job but came out well.
