There have been lots of discussions on the Phantom Grip.

I wouldn't put one in my car.
It's all in what you want. I personally am going to wait till the quaife comes down in price.
Come down in price? Its damn cheap compared for what it costs for other cars.

Oh, wait, you have a SVT. hehe.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I assume, by your name, you mean for the SVT. Because the MTX-75 Quaife is extremely cheap to what it used to be($995).

I wouldn't put any money on the SVT Quaife EVER coming down in price. $1000 is the going rate for most other models of the quaife, including the one I've been saving up for. The MTX-75 Quaife has another ATB LSD on the market as competition, which explains the low price.

As for the Phantom Grip? Everybody I know that has one says they work. I've personally driven one... and it did work. My only hangup is that they use the side of your spider gears as a friction surface... something they were never intended to be.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">And I think it also has something to do with Ford buying a lot of them for the RS as well...
i have had a phantom grip in my car for over 2 years now and I love it. Especially in the rain or snow.
yeh Ive had a phantom grip for 3 months now, and it looks great on my shelf n my closet. I cant wait to use it in my tranny.
It's got nothing to do with Ford buying a ton of them. That's a load of BS spewed by QuaifeUSA who have a monopoly on the US market and use it to gouge customers.

As soon as a competitor enters the market and threatens to steal market share, they drop the price and invent some BS reason to explain it so people don't realize they've been raped all along.

QuaifeUSA does not supply diffs to Ford, so they won't be getting any "economy of scale" from the RS. The only person who would benefit from that would be Quaife in Europe who actually manufacture the diff.

But it's funny the price for the Focus Quaife in Europe was always low, and didn't change prices when the RS came out.

The REAL reason the price of the Quaife in the US came down is because two competitors entered the market: Phantom Grip, which isn't a direct competitor, but would steal sales if the gap was so large, and the Torsen diff from Ford Racing.

The same thing happened for the VW's. As soon as Peloquin entered the market, Quaife prices dropped.
