While changing my oil I cracked a tap on the Fuel Vapor Canister Purge Valve. When I ran the car the check engine light came on. After repairing the valve and after 3 full runs the light went off. Unfortunately the reapir did not hold and it broke again. I repaired it again but the light has not gone off yet after about 10 runs now. Is this behavior correct or should it just go off like the first time. I'm wondering if I damaged the valve while repairing it. Do I need the reset the computer to get it to go away? Right now it shows no DTC codes but the light is still on.
Thanks

One more try here for a response. I replaced the valve and it seems the light is not going off now. Should I be looking for something else wrong? It runs great, mileage is where it normally is, low 30's. Should I disconnect the battery? Again, no DTC codes, makes it difficult
