Ooops! I was wrong on my diagnosis! See post #4 below...

All below is now N/A.

Opinions Please?

2000 ZX-3
5-Speed Transmission
38,300 miles on the odometer.
Engine seems rough. Loses power when accelerating.
Check engine light has now illuminated and is on continuously.

Is this the infamous DPFE problem? My dealer doesn't open until Monday morning. Does anyone know if Ford is replacing the DPFE for free even though the car is out of warranty?
Thanks in advance for inputs.

It was simply bad gas. Owners manual said poor quality gasoline could illuminate the check engine light. After reading this, I took it to a local Shell station and filled it up with about 6.5 gallons of 87 octane. I then drove home with the check engine light still on, shut it off and let it sit awhile. Started it back up an hour later and it's fine. No more light and it runs like a top. No more Wal-Mart gas for me.
