Check your DSI/Intake cables......

My DSI cable pulled off the intake last weekend and I got my car back this past Wensenday. The Service writer claimed that the Intake was a "new" part vs. the one that was replaced last December. I checked the PN# this evening they are the same thing
I also visually checked it and its the same design as the replacement one (which was different from the orginal intake I had on the car the first time), so it looks like the DSI cable is gonna be an issue with this car for the rest of the time I own it. Kinda sucks since the new design only lasted 10 months and I only have just over 36K on the car.

We have 36k on ours too. Can you tell me exactly what the DSI cable is, and how would I know if there's a problem with it?

The DSI means dual stage intake and operates the secondary intake runners which opens around 6000 rpm's those that have the new ecu YRF0 update opens earlier now at 5000 rpm's and you feel a power surge (more pulling power).Unfortunately the DSI is made of plastic and several have had to have it replaced already under warrranty because it broke. The DSI is located on the driver side of the motor under the air intake tube which attaches to the throttle body.I hope this helps you some.

And mine's in now. It's actually getting a whole new intake. Mine broke in a new way I think. It was opening and closing about once a second. It sounded exactly like the starter was not disengaging after the engine started. Fooled me and the guy that towed it in, but turns out to be the DSI valve after all.

I was waiting for this to happen. I expect all the '02s will need fixing before they are out of warranty. Ford won't fix it until it breaks though. The noise sure fooled me....
2nd DSI BROKEN and 33700miles

WELL #2 DSI is broken
Mileage went down from 26-28 mpg to 19mpg

after letting foot off the gas I'd hear this ratcheting sound
DSI motor trying to change the possition of the intake, cant b/c it broke off

Geees I guess I'm on page 7 of a "Oasis report"
