Meaning what?
Glasspacks sound great on many V-8's, and Cherry Bombs can too. I've heard neither on a Zetec, so your answer doesn't tell me anything.
:dunno:
better to get a kit made for our cars instead of hacking one together with that kind of muffler.
Trust me when I was new thats the kind of stuff I did, and i redid my exhaust twice until i got it right. Save yourself the time, money, and hassle and do it right the first time.
QFT. Same thing when I was younger, I was into all the ghetto/hacked/diy stuff. For example, Ive redone my intake 3 times, exhaust 3 times, exterior a few times, because I started trying some ghetto custom work.
IMO glasspacks/Cherry Bombs sound cheap. I've never liked the sound of a glasspack as they are too raspy and crackly.
I haven't heard them on a Zetec, but I've heard them on Honda's, Toyota's and a couple of Mitsubishi's. They sounded like crap. But then, I am pre-disposed against glasspacks.
for what the price of a cherry bomb is... i'd try it... if you dont like it... sell it... so you may lose a few dollars... but its worth a shot..
a glass pack or cherry bomb should produce a sound farily close to other mufflers that use fiberglass packing and a straight through design... it'll be loud with no other resonators and no cat... but for the cost... i'd go for it just to see what it sounds like... you could even unbolt the exhaust from the flex pipe and bolt it/hold it in place for a short amount of time just to get a hint of what it would sound like...
I have a cherry bomb on my focus. I've had it for years. When I put on a race header it was just too much noise for my 4" Supertrapp to handle without a serious flow restriction. I put the cherry bomb in to help quiet it down some. It does it's job quite well. The only time you really here the cherry bomb by itself is when I take all the disks out of the 'trapp and that is only at the track because it is LOUD! I'm typically one of the loudest cars there.
And it seems like people may be confused for the most part glass packs are resonators. Most all of you with aftermarket exhausts have a glasspack (as well as some other muffler.)
