How did you do that to your radio?

Popped the stereo out, dismantled the whole thing using torx drivers, and popped off the face cover. Then I sanded, cleaned, and layed down 3 coats of Duplicolor MetalCast Base coat.
Looks real good man, thanks for the info!

This set is on eBay as we speak. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6755&item=2426644760
These are the same ones I have, along with the SVT HVAC surrounds.
Love the dash, in fact I think it was you that I kind of copied last year when I painted mine.. only I did mine with the red metalcast and silver stereo face.

Anyway, I had a question about those knobs.. is there any LED in them, or at least something that allows the backlighting from the factory knobs to show through? Can't tell from the pics.

You need a T-8 and a T-6.

anyone have a how too on how to change the LEDS for the HVAC controls?
If you mean around the knobs, those arent LEDs. They're actually small light bulbs. As far as I know, nobody has successfully done it.

If you're talking about the AC/recirculation/defogger buttons, those are surface-mount LEDs. They're a little tougher than normal LEDs, but now mine are red. Just pop off the buttons (after removing the unit from the car) remove the clear plastic things, the rubber button things, and then get to work on the LEDs. Pay attention to the polarity too.

There is a small hole drilled through each knob to let the existing light source shine through. But not very much. I've been toying with the idea of popping the knobs back off and re-drilling the holes slightly larger, and inserting colored acrylic rods. Should work like fiber optics that way.
