Clutch/ Flywheel

I am looking to get rid of the stock clutch and flywheel and I am looking for the best possible combinations, I asked a local shop for it and they came up with a price a little under $1000.00 for the clutch kit and flywheel, I am hoping that it really isn't that much for the combo, anyone have any suggestions

I have heard a lot of good things about the fidanza flywheel and the Spec clutch.

Thats what I'm going to do when I get the money together, but it'll probably be about a grand by the time you get done with it.

I hear aftermarket clutches are noisy/rattle etc. As long as a person knows this.......
Its not really the clutches, its the light weight aluminum flywheels. They tend to transmit engine noise, heavy flywheels basically absorb the noise.
Whats the lightest flywheel that you can get for SVTF anyways? clutchmaster 9#s ?
If that price is installed , it sounds pretty fair. I'm running the Spec Stage 1 and Fidanza combo and love it. I don't do any track days (although it's been at the drag strip 1 time) and it's held up longer than the 2 previous factory versions (both were the original Ford parts).
Fidanza,CM & Spec are all 12.5 lbs.
When purchasing a flywheel and clutch do i have to balace them before installing.
Shouldn't have to

I currently have the focussport flywheel and clutchmasters clutch (the CM clutch is a dud, there is something wrong with thepressure plate I believe). I just purchased the spec Stage III clutch which should be here next week.
They dont have one for the SVT yet do they??? I've checked and checked.. if they do I'll cancel my Spec order~!

[EDIT]Nevermind... just called them and they do not have a pressure plate for the SVT focus yet, they said they can't modify the factory one as of yet!
Yes, check the site. Great prices and lots of choices.
The site shows they have a pressure plate but the guy at the shop said they dont.
The site show Flywheels, pressure plates, and clutches
yea I know the site shows it, but i called them. He said they dont have the pressure plates yet.

I was bummed!

PP isnt' that critical if you go with the puck type, true?
I'm thinking 4-6 puck and stock pp.
i hear from a source that it is recommended to stick with the dual-mass flywheel, anyone know why that would be? what the advantages of it is (noise is not one)

I think it is to protect the tranny and smooth out shifting. This article talks about it: http://www.myfordfocus.com/svt/
