Which cold air intake would u guys prefer?

The Steeda Cold air intake for the Duratec, or the Focus Sport Cool-Flo?:dunno:

And would I need to get a different air flow sensor cuz the flow change?:dunno:

I prefer the FocusSport cool flo for many reasons.

Neither will require anything done to the sensor. The FS uses the stock meter and the Steeda unit has a new meter (of stock diameter) as part of the kit.

i just switched to the Steeda from the FS but only because i live 5 min from ocean and we've had WAY too much rain for my comfort level. but it is tru the FS is nicer and if you drive sensible you won't have a problem. keep an eye out in the For sale forum my FS intake will be up there soon. like i said if it didn't rain so damn much i would keep it but ocean city just randomly get ubber deep puddles that can come up on me quick.

Being in CA, you may want to try to get a Cosworth CAI, too. Just because it's CARB exempt, and still works like the rest.

Well only the ones with the carb sticker are. The first ones that came out didn't have them. Also you would have to buy a used one now. They stopped making them, well thats what i've been reading lately. Also if you have your factory spash gaurd you shouldn't have to worry about the rain. Just don't go through HUGE puddle on the driver side.

focussport ftw! K&N is a good unit too making good power. i loved mine when i had it on..

i still have the polished k&n typhoon cai for sale if your interested.. their dyno say it adds 8.6whp.. a great one piece unit. uses stock MAF sensor and youd get the k&n filter.. PM if interested.

i like my aem, the steeda is more of a short ram, even with the box its more of a hot air intake

actually i was talking to the guys at Massive a while back and under WOT all the intakes they tested, short ram and long tube, had the same intake air temps +/- 1 degree. its only at idle that they really make a difference. but i plan on running a velocity stack from the front lower grill to a pipe and up to the steeda airbox.

Just an FYI...the F2 intake is CARB Pending approval!

And I also heard someone is redesigning their intake?

My personal favorite is the FS setup(of course I'm rather partial). It looks good and performs GREAT!!!

If you don't have a CARB sticker you get a hold of the company and obtain one. And I never made the assumption to buy one new. I just said to get one. ;)

tell me mo
here's some pure speculation.

FS is redesigning the cool flow so it works with all duratec foci '03-'09.

Just a guess.

I have the Steeda unit. Been pretty pleased with it. I was a bit annoyed at first with the fitment of the heatshield. I ended up having to drill a small hole in the far right corner to attach a bracket and make it fit better.

Other than that its been great. Filter is good quality and I rarely get any negative effects from heat. I also have the weatherstripping removed from the backside of my hood over the header to let heat out though. It works out nicely.
