Why the hell does ford use that super sheisty tubing to transfer from the plastic line to the PCV filter!?

I pulled into my parking lot after work today and I feel like the idle is rougher than usual. Lately the engine has seemed a bit ragged. I left it running and popped the hood. The valvetrain sounded a little louder than normal and the engine shook a tiny bit like a down cylinder. I give it a quick look over and sure as hell, the tubing on the PCV is sucked shut. The hose gets all old and soft like play-dough and then the vac pressure sucks it closed.

Now Im waiting for my wife to get home so I can go to autozone and get some coolent hose and clamps.

stock hose is SOOOO much better than that sheisty tubing they use. Hell, maybe I'll just cut two inches off my silicone breather hose and patch it up with that.

The wife was at her cousins so I walked 3 miles to the nearest autozone. Figures that the valve is 3/4 and the hose is like 3/8. I got some 3/4 heater hose and some hose clamps and just clamped the [censored] out of it.

Its ugly but it isnt leaking. I guess I'll have to spring for a new hose soon, I think the bottom elbow is a little ragged too, but fortunately not as bad as the top one.

Thanks Ford, I never thought I would see smart engineering on my wife's dodge but........ ever heard of a 90* PCV VALVE!?
