Cut off when hard cornering-low fuel

I race my 5 speed ZX3 at the local auto-X events. I have this weird trouble: When I am running with half tank or less fuel, and cornering really really hard & full throttle-1st, 2nd or 3rd gear(can't corner that hard@higher gears!) I'm having this sudden fuel cut-off like powerloss. When the car stabilizes, it comes back to normal. Not doing this with Half+ tank of fuel. Any remedies?
Please, it annoys me to race with a full tank all the time!

I know i have heard of things like better oil delivery system for racing, but haven't heard anything of racing oriented fuel delivery system- might try posting in team motorcross section.

Get Ford to cover the fuel pump under waranty. I had the same problem as you until I changed it.

I had this problem w/ an '87 Lynx XR-3. I was told that there was a "fuel-bowl" in the gas tank associated w/ the fuel pick-up, and it had seperated from its intended location. It always choked when hard-cornering below 1/2 tank, and I'll BET this is the same condition...

Seriously, I think it's a "fuel bowl" issue IN the gas tank, not fuel pump, etc.
Have you noticed if it's any worse in either right or left handers???
That COULD be an important clue....

It used to happen only on the right turns, untill my engine stalled out! and than, 5 min later, stalled out on the straight, again!

The dealership knew about this (common?) and replaced the fuel pump in no time. I tested it out again, and it does not do it any more on the hard right turns.

Bring it in, describe what is happening, and note a concern on stalling on the higway. That should help.

Michael, there is no float in the tank of the Focus. Just the fuel pump/sender assembly.

The problem just suuure sounded similar to my old ESCORT GT problem, esp. in one direction of cornering.(though i don't remember which)
I don't know anything about any other potential fuel pick-up problems, so I'll just hope it doesn't happen to me.....
