Hello!

I signed up awhile ago, but never posted. I never had plans of doing my own car repair, but figured out I was getting ripped off when someone wanted me to pay 800 bucks to change spark plugs. Because of this forum, I've changed:

spark plugs, wires, and coils
sway bar end links
dpfe sensor
pcv valve
the oil and filter!

Now the escape pod runs smoother, and I'm more mindful of performance. I know how to jack the thing up and use stands, and I don't mind ogling forums and planning the next upgrade. I wanted to thank all the people on this forum for making car repair excessible. It means a lot to me...as a lady, I suspected I was getting ripped off, but never really knew how much until this website (I do think that respectable people who do good work should be compensated- but 800 bucks for spark plugs?).

THANK YOU!

some companies rip u off, especially mechanic shops.... u gotta figure on average, most mechanic shops charge anywhere from $75 an hour and ive seen some shops charge up to $100 an hour.... And it goes off book time, so if the book tells them it takes 4 hrs to do the job, they charge u for 4 hrs, even if it ends up only taking 1 hr to do the job, u still get charged for all 4 hrs.....

I have a lot of friends who don't do their own repairs. It boggles my mind how simple a lot of car work is and how so few people do it themselves. I was lucky my grandpa and my uncles grew up on the farm and I was out in the machine shed watching them since I was five. Always have done my oil changes and repairs and when the job was a little too big got help from my uncles.

Welcome to the jet! lots of info and nice people :)
