don\'t be affraid to take on other cars...

Hey guys i read a post in another topic and it prompted me to make this post. I was reading on weither or not a focus could take on an altima and so on. and then someone wrote "I think it comes down to the driver. You can have a fast car, but can you drive it."

Hence i truly believe that we shouldn't be affraid to take on the competion ( on the track of course). I think that 70% of the outcome of the race depends on the driver. Some might say thats a lot but i truly believe it. Ive seen too many times ppl who don't know when to shift to maximize their cars powah. Of course if your racing a stang cobra i doubt ull be able to do much. But when you look at cars with plus or minus 40hp difference i think the driver plays the most important role.

any comments ?

i completely agree with blackbeard. on a track (with turns!!) a driver is the biggest determining factor. hp advantage is great and all, but i'd put my money on a professional racer driving, say a SVTF than a "just got outta Skip Barber and thinks he's all that" foo driving a Scoobie STi.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Bingo.

That Nissan will smoke a ZX3, no matter WHO is at the wheel of the Focus.

There has to be a fairly close race for driver to make a difference, lets be realistic. No ZX3 will EVER smoke a Viper or a Vette, unless you've got the worst driver on Earth in the faster car.

I think there is alot to the driver aspect. I am an on again off again driver. when Im bad, I'm REALLY bad. I have lost to a couple of cars I had no bussiness losing to. I lost to a bone stock base model civic once, I lost to a 94 sentra, a 97 cavalier.... others I'm sure. with the civic, I let out the clutch before it was fully in gear so I lost that one in a hurry. the others I just got a bad launch and then for whatever reason, I never hit full throttle.
but when I'm on...... I have beaten many cars out of my league. mustang GT, SI, celica GT-S, RSX. with some of those it was probablly a combo of me being on and them being off.
