Door Handle Question..

379 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  2focusd
OK guys, I remember seeing about 4 months or so ago on here a guy that was selling "caps" for the door handles for the ZX3. Basically they cover up the ugly keyhole if you have a Foci equipped with keyless entry, and after noticing my car in the parking lot today at school, ya I'd love to pick up a set of these. I checked FRPP but couldn't find them, anyone remember what site they were on?

I'd check with a dealer. The 04's that had keyless entry, didn't have keyholes on the front doors, they had the 'caps' where they keyholes normally are. The keyhole is probably still there, just covered by that little cap thing.
That's exactly what I'm talking about, just couldn't think of a name for it, those caps. I know I remember seeing some for sale here on the Jet before, but maybe I'll have to check with Steve at Tousley Ford to see what he can do for me..

That's probably your best bet for this part. They can't be too expensive at all, I mean they're just little pieces of plastic, plus Steve is the man, he'll take care of you right.
It's just a key hole cover. There was a thread on it a while back with the cost and part number... so let the search begin.

A guy on ebay was selling the part for like $20-30 bucks when in reality it was only like $7 bucks.
Haha thanks Jeff, now that lovely infamous task of trying to get the [FJ] search gnomes to work properly. I figured it wasn't an expensive part, and I'm guessing it'll just snap in where the current keyhole is right now, it'd just make the doors look cleaner IMO.

Unfortunately it takes more than just snapping it in, if I remember... it involved removing the inside door panel so you could get to the door handle.

The only downside would be if your fob gets lost or runs out of juice... then it's trunk/hatch climbing!
Hmm, maybe I'll have to do a little research before I purchase then, because I just assumed this was one of those easy two-minute mods like the shorty antenna, heh. And hey, hatch climbing can be fun, but not as fun as fitting seven people into a ZX3, now THAT was enjoyable!
