Ok guys/gals, here goes: I have a 2000 zx3 5-speed, My ECU crapped out right before I deployed to Iraq due to an improper winshield install which allowed water to trickle down into my fuse box
Now the dealership said it was in need of a new ecu. Ok a junk yard offered me a 5-speed ecu with matching cluster. The Prob, will an ecu from a different year and code work on my focus? What about the P.A.T.S.? Will I need new keys or re chipped keys for a new ecu? PLEASE HELP! THANX!

Just had my ECU replaced and the dealership gave me two new keys. My old keys will open the doors but not start the car. So, Yes, you will need new keys. I'm going to reprogram the car to accept the old keys along with the new ones as soon as I have time, but you have to have 2 working keys to do that.

...The yard should be able to get you the keys from the donor car...Switch the chips into your keys...Voila...No PATS problems...
