and from the back

first put spade connectors on the post on the H1 bulb

then the same for the gound on the fog housing
Image

then make everything water tight. i used silicon glue and then covered it all in duct tape. very professional

just connect the stock green wire to the H1 lead and the stock black wire to the housing ground lead. i just marked the ground lead with a black marker to remember since i only had yellow wires.

now to mount them i did this:
Image

which is one aip tie up top right here:
Image

and one on the bottom. i drilled a small hole in the bumper to attach it to, nothing major.
Image

and finally a little bit of double sided tape on the bottom of the housing just to keep it sturdy in there.

and viola!
Image

now i know this is pretty ghetto, but it works and only took about thirty minutes.

hopefully this helps.

Nate

Oh and btw, i used the spade connectors on the stock wires so that i can go back to the stock ones with relative ease.

yes and no. yes you would have to take it out, but seeing as i have a euro lower grille it was already done. the us lower grille does have a bracket for the fogs.

I just put mine in today too.
Why did you use zip ties? If you just turn that black plactic clip off the US fogs, the Euro fogs have the same place for them. Then you just pop the ball end in and clip the other side with the clip. No zippies needed, and I can adjust them.

euro lower grille.

no us grille = no us mounting points. so zip ties are a necessity.

Hi I wonder if Indy as access the euro sockets to make it a little more weather tight. This way you can splice into wiring further upstream and keep lens and bulbs more protected. Just a thought.

Nice job man they are bright

Stay focused

He does, but when you use the euro brackets I hear you have to make some adjustments to the grills and stuff that is kind of a pain in the butt. My euro grill is built like a NA grill, I combined my NA and Euro grill to make it like a stock NA grill so I wouldnt have to use zip ties to hold my grill in. All I had to do was shave a little bit of plastic off of the NA fog brackets to work and I have my euro fogs hooked in like the NA ones do, so I can adjust mine also.

Love the foglight mod.

You've convinced me!

Now where can I purchase the fog lights, the grills, and the headlights?!?!? Thanks.

Re: euro glass fog how to (with pics)

I emailed Indy about the sockets and his price was alright(about$27) but shipping to Texas was going to run about $30. A little high for a part that weighs just ounces. But on top of the socket, you'll need the connector and the contacts. the contacts aren't available from Ford seperate from the harness. But I located a person that was able to get everything I need and at a great price. Here's his email addy: t.porter@shaw.ca He is with ford Parts U.K. and very quick responce to emails and very fast not inflated shipping. FYI. I'll post pics of this done if any are interested. Nice job with the comparison and installation procedure. I've noticed how pitiful the stock foglights are and am looking for an upgrade.

Hmmm, do you not get the rear covers with these lights? See those two clips in the picture at 2 o'clock, one of those clips to the tab at 7 o'clock, no? Or does the bulb insert in and rotate like the US foglights? I have square H4 lights for my VW that have a clip like in the picture and it is that clip that holds the bulbs into the headlight. Then there is a rubber shield that goes over the bulb prongs and seals to the light housing. The electrical connector is then placed onto the bulb holding the rubber seal in place. Maybe these don't have the same arrangement since they are closer to the ground, but they look like they should have some kind of factory cover or seal.

that metal clip is indeed to clip the H1's into place, but there is nothing to cover them outside that. euro harnesses can be had, but they're more expensive than the housings and still require a good bit of modification to the lower grille etc.

The sockets are alot better than RTV on the back of the lights. Indy can get them and they only require about 10 minutes per side with a dremel to make work. I didn't mind spending an extra $30 to do it right. But some are on a budget. I wouldn't trust a zip tie to hold them tight. I hate seeing cars that the light bounces all over when they hit a tiny bump.

Bmorezx3: Are the ones that you have plastic lens or glass? Someone here on the jet emailed procarparts and was told that the lenes are plastic. Ed_Cloud9's are indeed glass. Clarifications on your's. Thanks

glass. yeah, someone emailed them before i even ordered them and they told him plastic. i have no idea why, they are 100% glass. i just took a chance and hoped they were mistaken. with the amount of heat generated by a 50W bulb in such a small enclosure i can't see how they would make it anything else.

and yes, i ordered them from www.procarparts.com for only $27 + shipping. not a bad deal at all.

The question to procarparts.com has been asked many times in the past and all the email replies from them have proven that they have no idea what they are even selling. Everyone I have seen has come back saying that they were plastic, but are indeed glass.

I just noticed the ST170 headlights, very nice!
Image

Where did you get them from and how much if I may ask$$$? I know Indy sells them at a very good price, but I hear reports of people having tabs broken thru shipping from him. And BAT is much more expensive than Indy
Image
Even though they are a sponsor they them for quite a lot more....

Could you do a closeup of the back of the foglights to show a comparison of the US vs Euro mounting points? I gather the Euro glass ones don't just clip into the fascia in place of the US ones by the amount of modifications you've done. I've got some other Euro fogs in mind, but based on your install maybe I should rethink that if the mounting points are different and require significant modifications. Please elaborate on these differences

Mastercard is what I make almost all my online purchases with, with the exception of Indy.
GTIspirit- I got my ST170's from Indy and I did have one broken tab but I just used some automotive epoxy and it was all good. I have never had any problems with mine.
