Uhhh, why would a grill alter your electronics...
The wiring from the turn signals. What did you do with them. Are the turn signals removed or did you relocate them. If you took them out what did you do with the wiring?
The European grills don't have signals in them though, I don't understand what you're trying to wire.

I know, but he had to do something with the existing wires from the SVT grill with the lights. If they're not connected to anything they will either do what is being described, or the blinkers will blink really fast.
Dude, a eurogrille on the SVT looks nice, but... you need to re-locate your turn signals somewhere, do not count on the cheezy bumper stripes to work as turn signals, they just wont cut it. Mount your signals behind the grille, or get the european headlights.
ok silly question time...

I got a 03 SVT with the HID headlights... and was looking to replace the grill with a euro one. the HID's have parking lights and turn signals in them. However im pretty sure the lights in the grill are only parking lights. would i have similar problems as this guy if i just let the wires dangle?
03InfraRed, try disconnecting your grille lights to see if they still work. Us Canadians don't get the SVT with HID's here, so its almost impossible for us to test it out.

Just disconnect the lights and wrap them in something to keep the water out. Tuck them under the grill and in the bumper- you'll never see them and you're not screwing with the factory wiring.

I wouldnt recommend to leave the bulbs dangling there, even if they are covered up. Just unplug them if you are not using them its simple. just maybe wrap some e-tape over hte connectors.

No No No.....

Guys please if you haven't done this conversion before please don't give out misinformation.

If you do what Paolo is saying above your blinkers will not work correctly. The only solution is to hide ur blinkers while the bulbs are still connected and functioning or route them somewhere else.
Thameth is right. First off, the lights in the the grill are the blinkers, not the lights in the bumpers. On the MAch lights edition if the blinkers are in the lights all you have to do is check to see if the lights in the grill blink when a signal is on - how hard is that? THEN, and here's the important thing - unplug the lights in the grill and see what happens. Without the Mach lights, what happens when you unplug a grill light is the bumper light on that side goes out. (Silly I know, but that's the way it works.) So if you want a euro grill and don't have turns in your headlights, you will need to make some other arrangement for front turn signals.
since i have the SVT with Mach HID headlights and a Euro grille, i can answer this question with experience.

with the Mach HID headlights, you do not need the lights in the standard grille. they are just parking lights. you can disconnect them, cover the sockets, and live a happy merry life. the turn signals in the lights and on the bumper will work just as they did before.

i have no experience, however, with the canadian SVT, and won't try to answer that question.

Doh, my bad. I was referring to the connectors. I installed the Focus HIDs about 9 months ago and I've had zero problems with the lights or the original harnesses (which were wraped up and tucked under the bumper.)

I apologize for the confusion.
why did the Mach edition have the turn signals in the HID's, with no grille lights, but the SVT's with the HID's still have the grilles with the lights in them?

Most likely reason is so that they didn't have to fabricate a new honeycomb grille without the turn markers. They can just use the same grille on all of them. But that is just a guess.
if the HID's come as an option on a new SVT, do the blinkers in the grill work? or are they just empty?
I have an 03 SVT 3 door. I have the HID's. My turn signals are inside the headlamp, and the lights in the grille do light up, but they serve no purpose as far as turn signal indicators. They are just regular parking lights. I am considering unplugging them, like others above, but am concerned about any kind of moisture building up inside the connectors. I hate to say this, but I might install purposely burned out bulbs in there.

i was wondering cuz the first mod i want to do *if* i get my SVT on saturday is to get a euro grille. just looking around various threads to see what people are doing with those parking lights. i would like to run them to the amber lights in the headlights if possible
The amber lights are for parking lamps ONLY on the svt's w/ hid's(not sure on normal light svt's). There are bulbs inside the hid light that are blinkers!!
