My number four exhaust manifold pipe has separated from the collector. The number one and two pipes are also badly cracked right at the welds. I thought one crack was just a random failure, but now that I have three of four on their way out, I am beginning to thinl that there might be something really wrong. Question is, what could it be?

I was think perhaps a clogged cat, but the car is not down on power. What else could do it?

Rich... I'd venture to guess that your stock exhaust manifold has been through hotter, longer heat cycles than just about any car around here. The Focus in stock form is capable of having a glowing exhaust manifold without any modifications... Combine that with the high RPM vibrations and exaggerated engine movements your car sees while lapping your local road course, and I can see such a failure happening. Combine that with the possibility that one of the brackets was misaligned or stressed from the factory, and it only makes it worse.

It isn't called Dirtlab 2000, for nothing, right?
