Here is a alot of work installing a new tilt/telescoping steering column and factory cruise control.

This is the car without a column and steering wheel. Lots of leg room, don't you think?

This is the column removed and on the floor. Needless to say, the car isn't going anywhere real soon! hehe

Here's the new column installed. Not looking to bad. Looks like something with ears. Don't worry, i'm nuts, i know.

Here is our moment of confusion. There installation instructions are wonderful! No words, and a real pain in the ass. Oh well. The instructions miss labeled a wire, and noresull was tracing it in his books!

This is it all done. There was engine compartment stuff to do, with the servo, and running wires through the firewall. But I didn't want to make a photo gallery. If you want to see more, let me know.

We had fun doing it as well. Thanks noresull/doughboy sooooooooooo much for helping me out. You guys rock!

Also to note, it worked the first time out! We rock!

Here was the pricing

Steering Column $220
Cruise Control $410

I got these fromt he local dealer. You have to watch it and make sure you get the cruise control kit with the recall.

It took us about 3.5 hours to do everything. Not too shabby.

if you did just the cruise, it would be about 2.5 hours to do. combined with the column it took 3.5 hours total.

it's so much nicer having cruise! I spend about 3.5 hours driving each day and 4/5 of that is interstate!!

Can you list the parts needed? Did you have to replace your steering wheel or did the cruise fit on it? I would like to see a pic of the steering wheel with cruise control on and the airbag off.
Thanks

here are the part numbers

Speed Control
YS4Z-9A818-BAB Black,Zetec cars
YS4Z-9A818-BAA Parchment,Zetec cars
YS4Z-9A818-AAA Parchment,SPI cars
YS4Z-9A818-AAB Black,SPI cars

Tilt/Telescoping Steering column
YS4Z3C529JA

Prices will vary dealer to dealer. I've seen prices for the cruise from $389 to $450. The cruise buttons require a new wheel and ae not interchangeable with your old steering wheel.

The speed control kit includes
* New leather wrapped steering wheel
* Speed control servo
* New clock spring
* Cables to connect the servo to the throttle
* wiring harnesses
* package of misc bolts
* crappy directions using just pictures, no words!

Just a note, you have to drill a 3/4" hole through your firewall, behind your driver side wheel. Other tools are pretty simple, wire cutter, metric/standard socket set, the normal tools you would expect.

I'll post a pic later tonight with the new wheel on without the airbag. We took 83 pics of my entire instllation process, so any step you want to see, let me know.
