We currently have the Essy. UDP and bought the FC 3 Piece Set - I thought it would provide higher gains than the Essy. simply because of the Water Pump Pulley - But after looking at those numbers, I can gurantee you our Esslinger made more!

After seeing this graph we may consider selling the kit and not going through the trouble of installing it - when we already have that much power from our current UDP if not more

kid, dont be silly dude, do you have dyno before and after of your essy? Dont think so, plus, think about what you are saying. The esslinger and FC crank pulley IS EXACTLY THE SAME< so right there, you will be making INDENTICAL power, nothing special about that, same size, same weight, exactly. But the FC adds a water pump pulley, which is good for maybe another 1-2hp and a alt pulley. You cant compare dynos of different car to different products, thats stupid. Each car will show different gains

Naz - I know that man, I knew about everything you just said - But im just sayin for about the same gain, why bother changin em out when we have almost the same now
Image

BTW - If the Water Pump Pulley is good for 2hp would that mean that the UDP itself only makes 2hp and 1lb/ft of torque - I dont think so man

nice......definately will add that to my list of mods needed

do they come in yellow yet???? hehehe....either way, they'll end up anodized if I cant get em in yellow

and YES it does make a difference to me, car show judge will look down in there and see em and he'll instantly be like

'WHERE DID HE FIND THOSE'
and that's a 1st place for me

j/k, I'm a nut, I just wish they came in yellow, not everyone wants blue or red

again, not all dynos are the same and not all cars are the same, this isnt just mathematics where you add numbers dude, for example, on focussports car, their UDP made most power and torque down low, however, on this dyno only higher end power was achieved. All dynos are different, conditions are different and cars are different. I went from esslinger to this pulley, and it wasnt huge, but the gains were there. Its hard to tell, im not gonna say that this kit is a huge improvement over the esslinger, however, for the same price, you will definetly not loose, only gain, and thats not bad

I know I am! Im just reconsidering for our car - It is a street car, prolly wont be raced, except for AutoX - So just lookin at the possibility of not having to spend the $$$ on another install

Thats all!

I am sort of considering it - But our apartment complex doesnt allow you to work or wash your car - so it is hard

It is still up in the air what I might do

Milan ... ROFL

Naz...I'm just glad you got that crap figured out..Hope to see you at the G2G.

Maybe ZED will do a comparision between the FC 3 piece pulley and the Esslinger UDP using the same engine and dyno.....

#20 ·
FOK, if you've got the Esslinger in there, I'd agree that it's probably not worth your while to rip it out and install the 3 piece...

I love UDP arguments

What I'd really love to see is a dyno that backs up a 1-2whp gain for adding that water pump pulley

Have you got dyno #s to back up that gain? 1-2hp isn't going to register on anyone's so-called butt-dyno...I'd tend to agree with your last sentence though, that you probably won't lose anything...if the prices are the same, then what the hell, get the 3 piece kit.

As usual, some dyno #s would be nice to show if there really are any quantifiable gains to be had from the extra 2 pulleys.

I'd like to thank ZED for the dyno results!
Its really cool that they are starting an archive of dyno sheets....cant argue with that!!

Thanks ZED!!

PGZX3: yellow is not going to be available. When you anodize metal yellow it comes out looking like pee, not the yellow that yellow Focus owners want.

FOK: you should have just bought the add on kit that adds the water pump pulley and alternator. Keep the esslinger pulley and add the other two pulleys.

Naz: Changing out pulleys should not really give you more bottem end power, you will notice it in the high end where yoy now have less rotational mass.

Tomorrow I will weigh all three stock pulleys vs the the thre FC pulleys and post the results.

Thaks for the replies ya'll.

shut ur mouth, no one asked you.

Pulleys will add lowend, just cause they will get off the line faster, takes less power to start spinning them, look at focussports dyno, they made a little jump in VERY VERY low end torque, i dont think hennen even started the dyno pull that low to show it, but im sure its there with the focuscentral pulleys, simply because with puleys its alot easier to get of the line, gets rid of the bog.

Now, call ZED and order some pulley's peoples

FOK, do the water pump pulley yourseld dude, its fairly easy, if you have done this stuff before, i would do it for u in 10 minutes if you stayed where you belonged, in cali damnit, but thats ur bad

Comparing those results tot hose of the Esslinger and AFX UDp, it seems liek the AFX or Esslinger is a better buy because they have consistently shown a 6 to 9 HP gain on many Focuses and also on the ZX2.

i don't know what the weight of the stock pullies are but i have the FC & Essy.

Essy:6.9 oz
FC crank:8.6 oz
FC wp 9.4 oz
FC alt 2.1 oz

i talked to dennis. he said you can still use the stock belt if you don't want to swap out the alt pully. it does look like a pain in the a$$ to remove. well, on a zx2 anyway. i'm going to use the essy crank & the fc wp pulley. i'll sell the fc crank & alt & belt for like $75.
