For February we are honoring another [FJ] Legend. This time one that is a bit more recent compared to some of the other cars you might think of, but that doesn't mean it is any less impressive, or had any less impact on Focaljet, or the Focus scene.

While it might not have been the first car in the Focus world to do these modifications, it was the one we all think of when we think of rusted hoods and the 'stanced' look on the Focus. Pushing the envelope when everyone else was comfortable inside of it, this month we are honoring:

Hey FJ! Just a quick timeline of the car best known as Chromie.

I picked up the ZX3 shortly after turning 18. Started working full time so I had extra money to buy a newer car to replace my lightly moded 94 Eagle Talon I was getting bored of...
So I started looking at cars. And a long list of cars I'm too ashamed to say I actually considered and test drove. But finally stumbled on a silver ZX3 with an auto. I liked the car, but previously owning all automatics, I wanted a manual. So I passed on that car and started looking for clean manual hatchbacks. Finally stumbling upon a Twlight Blue ZX3. Test drove it, but I did'nt like the color. So I passed on it. Later that week, going back and putting a offer in on it

So starting a long journey, I got the car in September 2004. With winter coming not much was done to the car, except taillight covers, darkened side markers, shift knob etc.

So with 2005 starting I put a order in for new wheels.

Starting to get the mod bug badly in the spring and summer, we installed a Volant Intake, OBX Header, New Edge Flex Pipe and Magnaflow exhaust, and underdrive pulley. Tinted the windows, and added an alarm and very heavy subwoofer system.

By about this time, the car started to get a rather blacked out theme going, so some sarcastic plates were put in order that spring as well...

By summer, more parts were stocking up, but only had time to install the F2 RS spoiler before JetFest 05..

Following JetFest the modding bug hit more, fitting the Eibach Pro Kit. With fall coming, was finally able to fit, paint and install the F2 RS bumpers and ProDTM sideskirts.

With putting the car into storage for winter, and bringing it out in 06 with new wheels and few other misc items...

Also purchasing a FocusSport Stage2 Supercharger in the winter, finally being able to install that in the spring...
Image

Finally wanting to get that interior up to par with the rest of the car, picking up a set of EAP Recaro seats all around...
Image

In the middle of the summer the car got hit, resulting in getting a few pieces repainted and few others being changed...Roush side skirts, body moldings painted, rear Euro fog lights molded into the RS bumper, and ST170 clone headlights...
Image

Spring 07, came with more boost...

Getting bored in the summer, it was time to change up the wheels again...

Starting to want to try and take the car into another direction, I got the idea in the fall to add some Nu-Rat flare to the car in the shape of some rust. So I picked up a spare hood and over the winter started to rust it...

Spring 08, Eibach GC Coilovers, Autopower Cage, and Big Brake swap

Later that summer, hitting up my first indoor car show HIN.

Was starting to get the idea of moving on with the car since I was also working with my 666-STFU wagon at the same time, so over the winter I wanted to finesh off Chromie finally and possibly get more interest in the car to keep it...

2009

Finally fineshing it late spring...

It had new bumpers, side skirts, taillights, rear spoiler, and new wheels...

Finally deciding I was done and needed to move onto a new project, I started to part out the car. The supercharger and brakes went into my Wagon, the Recaros and cage went into Pappy's ZX3 and the rest either stayed on the car or was sold...

It finally sold in fall 09' to a local car enthusiast...
