When did everyone go back to the dealer for their first oil change...I'm thinking that I'm due...or should I just go to one of those 15min oil change places and pick a certain oil (which one for Tallahasse and Connecticut summers?)

I got mine done at my regular interval... 3000 miles and a quicky shop. Unless you've got a coupon or want the dealership to look over your car then I don't think it's worth it.

Wherever you end up goin just make sure you ask for 5W-30. The SVT calls for 30 weight oil instead of the 20 weight that the base focus motor uses.

An oil change is an oil change. As long as you have the correct oil weight 5-30 you shouldn't have any problem. You can use Motorcraft filer FL-400S or FL-2005, both work fine. After you hit 6,000 miles or so you can switch to synthetic oil, some people switch right away, thats up to you.

Which plan do you have? I purchased a 6 year or 100k plan from Ford. Wondering if I'm covered too?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Sounds like the same one I got. Corporate fleet service plan. I only got the 3 year 50K version. By the time I got the corporate rate (you can get that if you are x-plan) the cost was about $500 - about the cost of the 30,000 mile (I think that's the one) service and it covers everything. Oil, brake pads, clutch lining, maintenence, the works for 3 year 50K.

Use the FL-2005. It has a anti drain valve which keeps oil in the filter for faster flow to the engine.

DO NOT use the FL-400S which does not have this important feature.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That's interesting...when I called SVT prior to doing my first oil change, they recommended I use the FL400S and not the FL-2005...Anyone else?

tenderloin: The FL-2005 and the FL-400S both have excellent anti-drainback valves to keep oil in them after engine shut-down.

The FL-2005 has an extra anti-leakout-and-make-a-great-big-?*&#$ mess thingie (I call it) at the gasket end for when you remove it. I also read somewhere the FL-2005 supports a little more pressure inside, if that's necessary.

Go with what the Owner's Manual says.

just got my first oil change at 2700 miles...put mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic in and a k&n oil filter...let me tell you...she purrs like a kitten...definitely alot smoother and better power delivery...i'd recommed full synthetic and the k&n filter to anyone who was thinking of going synthetic but wan't sure...i didn't have the money for redline or amsoil...but mobil 1 is just fine IMO
