I thought this was a drug free g2g... Supposed to do a road trip that weekend. Friends going back to western and a bunch of us are going to run wild in BC. If plans change, I'll hitup my first g2g.

Cheap steaks at Larry's!

This is a PSA!

You guys might want to think about buying a quantity of Flat Iron steaks from Larry's Market. Sale is on through Aug. 22. If someone has some freezer space, the deal is incredible: $2.97/lbs. You will definitely want to call ahead if you go this route. While probably not of the same quality as Robert's butcher cuts, these are called "all natural" and I can attest to the excellent overall quality. Normally ~$8/lbs.

Say you have 20 guys, one 8 oz steak for a sandwich each, that's 10 lbs. for about $30 bucks. Given the quality of a flat iron steak for grilling purposes (2.25 minutes per side for medium rare), you are NOT going to beat that. @#$t, a burger is going to cost more. They are thin, so they cook quick as a burger and are relatively uniform (plus you KNOW the cut of meat so the food safety factor is an order of magnitude above ground meat). The flavor and marbling are phenomenal -- ESPECIALLY considering the $$$.

Robert: You could buy a pile of them and charge $2.50/sandwich to cover the cost of the steaks and the buns. ;)

I mentioned this to Charles yesterday when he came by to snag the tires.

Just to let everyone know I went down there yesterday and scouted out the parks in the area. The one that we were at was Maplewood Roadside Park. It was a good spot. However I am thinking we might want a area that has bathrooms and running water. Not to mention if anyone is bringing there kids they might want a play area besides the river! So I came up with a list of other parks in the Renton area:

1. Liberty Park
2. Maplewood Park
3. Philip Arnold Park
4. North Highland Neighborhood Center

If anyone wants more info check out the link.

I will certainly need a restroom for my son to use... Do you know or can you check on this coming Saturday to find which park is packed and which isn't?

i'll be in buffalo on this date, so that means anyone who would otherwise be annoyed by me HAS TO show up at this G2G! :D

You would be better to come into Anacortes. Otherwise you will have to take another ferry to get here or drive around.
You know, I was just looking at that. He COULD drive all the way around, right? Total time on that including the required ferry wait time is at least 7+ hours. Man. Ok, if you take the Anacortes ferry, which I was also going to recommend, you're looking at something like 6.5+ hours due to the shorter trip from Anacortes. The Anacortes ferry can also be longer due to SJ island stops. Either way, that is one long day of driving. Seems like the best bet would be to come the day before and see the sights in Seattle while he's here. Personally, I don't know that it's worth that kind of effort for an afternoon BBQ at a Renton park. (This from someone too lazy to drive to Burien from Redmond...heheheh). I do make the drive to Covington/Kent for track days though!

What was the name of the bigger park down the street on the left of 169?
The one down the street is Ron Regan park. There really isn't much there. I am thinking either Maplewood or Liberty park would be good. Or like I said we can try that Coulen park again. I don't think it will be too busy in the middle of September.
