Focus a "sissy" car

So I was at work today and a customer was looking at buying some EBC brake rotors for his jacked up truck. I mentioned that I had them on my car and he asked if I drove that sissy Ford in the parking lot. I said "No I drive the Focus." To which his reply was "That's the one." I proceeded to comment on my fuel mileage and mentioned that I have nothing to compensate for. I live in Alabama where you can't open your eyes without seeing a lifted Z71. Why do people think they're better just because their car is bigger? Anyone else ever experienced this?

Since I sold the WRX and got the ST I got a ton of weird looks when people ask me what I got to replace the WRX. As soon as I say Focus I either get a look of disgust or a blank stare. It doesn't matter that the ST, in stock trim, has almost as much, if not more, horsepower and torque than a WRX in stock trim that weighs about the same. And the WRX doesn't handle as well until you throw suspension at it.

People just have a hard time making the connection between Focus and fun to drive, kick ass car. :p

Why was this even posted? if you go around worrying about what others say about you, you will die sooner than most. Agree it is a sissy car and continue on your way.

I just wondered if I was the only one. I don't feel that my car is a sissy car because he said that and I don't care that he feels that way. What I was wondering though was why someone who can't keep his teeth in his face would feel the need express his ignorant opinion.

Also if you think it's a sissy car then why even be on the forum?

Because we own 3 of these sissy cars, one filling the top of the bookself full of tropies, 2 being drivers points championships. So, sissy car it is.

What jin was saying is that person probably has the mental capacity of an orange. Therefor, he is an absolute ****ing retard. Not to mention there are plenty of "sissy cars" on this forum that have more power in one of their 4 cylinders than he does in 2-4 of his 8 cylinders. Moral of the story is, "douchenozzles" as Ken would say are everywhere.

its a normal thing with any hatch back. im sure the civics and what not get it to. its a passenger car that someones whife owns to most people. if they arent enthusiast, they wont get it, and nothing you say can can make them get it in a day. just tell them if they dont understand now, they never will.

I drive a Fiesta! I wish it was as butch as a Focus... ;)

My work mates always rib me about my small cars, I just ask 'em how much their last fill came to, and then I laugh at them... :D

I drive a bright yellow hatchback. I stopped caring what people think about my car a long time ago. You know why? Because your value as anything (other than a consumer, I guess) is not at all affected by the car you drive. If you think it does, you need to surround yourself with different people. Drive what makes you happy and if other people don't like it then they can get whatever car they want.

When people talk **** about my Focus, I just laugh and think to myself: Stupid fool. You have NO idea what this car
and it's awesome aftermarket support are capable of.

In 2000 when I bought my ZX3 brand new for around $10,000 it was a cool cheap car to modify.

In 2013 the Focus comes with many new features and is priced too high for my blood to even think about tearing it apart for modifying. Plus you can buy them new with many decent features. Its grown into a very decent every day driving car.

The guy was probably just giving you a hard time about your car or do you have rainbow stickers on the windows? Do you look like a sissy? You should have told him off or beat his ass if his behavior bothers you.

Sounds like an ignorant punk to me.

I did tell him that I didn't have to compensate for something tiny by driving something huge. Also made him feel pretty lousy about his gas mileage. But he was a customer at the place I work so my job would be on the line if I were to physically attack him.

In all honesty I don't care what he thinks about my car. I just want to know why most jacked up weekend bidders feel the need to be douche canoes because what they drive is bigger.

This is one reason why I hate the south. A month or two after I left civilization and moved to Florida (at the insistence of the US Navy) I was accosted by a 5'4"ish sawed off little prick in an enormous jacked up Silverado because I was wearing a pink button down. I was pumping fuel into my SVT and he felt to need to walk around the pump towards me and say (direct quote) "Nice shirt ya fuggin *****." I called him an ankle biter and he charged me. All over a pink oxford.

I've noticed that about 90% of the people driving jacked up trucks down here are suffering from what I call MDS.......Mini Dick Syndrome.

Is that why 99% of the truck owners up here hang balls from their trailer hitches? Cause at night, they park the penis in the driveway instead of in their Mrs.?

:dunno:

My SVT was no sissy. :)

Don't let anyone tell you your Focus is a 'sissy' car. There are some legit drivers from our community who began in the modest econo car and did well in it.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by people's reactions to my Titanium hatchback with THP. I hear "I can't believe that's a Focus" pretty regularly. "That's a nice car" is common, too. Rarely do I get derogatory comments on it. I did all the time with my 2001 Focus ZX3 (which would blow my new Focus into the weeds with the supercharger and water/methanol injection system it had on it).

Just for the record, in 1997 when I first saw the Focus in person, I hated it. At some point in 2000, it grew on me and I special ordered one and I have owned it since.

I love the looks I get when I pull up in the Charger SRT and these kids start salivating over it and want to sit in it and all that and I say "Yeah it's a feakin' bad@$$ car! But it's not my baby, my dream car." These guys look at me and say "wtf dude, you have something better than this?!" So I whip out a picture of an MKI Focus wagon and let these kids know that this was my dream car for the last 10 years and I wouldn't trade it for anything. They usually stop talking to me soon after. :screwy:

Love my sissy car! :D

Although I am in a WRX now, I do miss the '08 Coupe some times. Especially when I am fumbling through a CD book trying to find something else to listen to. And then there were the many times that the car and I would get into an argument about calling people in my phone's address book. I miss those fights. I wonder if the Coupe remembers me?

It takes a real set of bo-halls for a car to refuse to call a man's mother when asked to do so. The '08 was definitely no sissy.

When I see my brother with my SVT I miss it sometimes....then I drive the Subaru with 275 torque to all four wheels and remember why I don't. :rlol:
