Well I was looking around on the net trying to figure out what I'm going to do for my "Big Build" When I get back home in September. I stumbled upon Focus Power ( http://www.focus-power.com ) and saw there Motors. Im really Interested in the 2.3L bored over to a 2.6L the T/Q Beast. Dose anyone know about this company and there products?

Thanks in Advance,
Dustin

your gonna get alot ALOT of mixed reviews and most likely some bashing about tom with this question. Focus power has been around for a good while and the owner was banned from Focaljet. they have built some fast cars and were one of the originals with a turbo zetec. i've never dealt with them personally but have heard just as many good reviews as bad.

From what i hear TOM is no longer running the business, but hes still on the computer talking garbage about FSwerks.

As for going 2.6, you will need to get your block sleeved (darton sleeves). Then go with big pistons, you can find some specs on supertech website about what size you'll need to be 2.6L.

Isn't there a 2.5L duratec that came out recently? Maybe you can look into doing a swap.

From the looks of it focus sport sells a complete 2.6 motor. Idk I just wanted some input on if anyone knew about the company. I'll probably give them a call about info on the motor itself.

I would suggest FSwerks if your looking for a build. They will give you full tuning support, Randy and Vik will work with you over the phone, pm, e-mails until your happy with your product and build. They don't give you the run around and tell you to call back tomorrow or they're too busy.

yea, I haven't actually even bought anything from FSWerks but iv had questions and they have been more then happy to give advice on there product or what parts i should use and what not.

Dustin,

Focus power is around but more in a retired state, I am not sure if he is selling stuff I can ask for you since he is helping us with our tuning for the Ford Market...

As for your build you can check out our website www.f2usa.com and since we are uploading it with new content you can see that we build for Caterham and other kit cars and those are some powerful engines. Our mechanic and tech guy is a Mazda and Ford Master Tech so he knows his way around the duratec. We do all of engine work in house and we hand assemble them in house. F2 is just another option that is out there that fully supports the Duratec Engine in all platforms!

Thanks for all the Info I Appreciate it

Or go to the other Focus website (FF) for more info on Focus Power...

It's true the owner, Tom, has retired to Mexico, but he still seems to preside over things via the internet.

Lots of people swear by him - especially praising his tune - but the amount of people who also bash him, not to mention some of the baffling/belligerent posts he writes, leads me to believe he's not as professional as the guys mentioned in the posts above.

As I have always said you have to take Tom with a grain of salt. Whether or not you want to risk your money with him is another thing. Tom is very knowledgeable about turbos, building kits and some tuning. Tom can also be very helpful.

Would I personally do business with Tom? No.

Randy, Vic, and the rest of the FSWerks crew are also very knowledgeable about turbos, building kits, and tuning. Randy, Vic, and the rest of the FSWerks crew are also very, very helpful.

Would I personally do business with FSWerks? Check my sig.

I can tell you first hand that Tom is a great guy to work with. if you want a 2.6 stroker Email hin at Hpdyno@aol.com or you can talk to him on Aim same screen name. And there are alot of ppl on here that bash Tom because of what other say and not from personal experience, keep that in mind.

I've heard numerous problems with others. FSwerks turbo kit and tune was spot on from the very beginning. I've never heard of a bad tune from FSwerks, no running too rich or too lean. I've never heard of their turbo manifold crack or poor quality parts used on their kit.

The bottom line here is people work with who they want...they buy what they need from who has it, some care about price other do not. Everyone has had problems with every company and some have not, that is how it is. All aftermarket items have issues some more than others or some later than others....Just because you don't hear does not mean it does not exist.

Motors blow and get fixed, clamps break and get replaced, bolts come loose and get re-tightened. I was at the track recently and someones turbo came loose from the manifold, from what I heard it was a common problem...nothing is perfect but the main thing is it works....

Obviously Focus Power made decent products as people bought them and he is able to retire from it...the same can be said from all vendors...

I've done business with Tom and FS before, but not with F2. I was a member of FF first (before I even had my Focus) so when I was piecing together my original build I purchased parts from Focus-Power. I wanted a centrifugal SC kit so I purchased that from FS. Once I mentioned to Tom that I was doing business with FS (unfortunately, after I ordered the aforementioned parts but before they were shipped) his communication went SHARPLY downhill and it wasn't until I threatened contacting the BBB and Paypal (3+ weeks after the initial order was placed) for a refund and complaint that he shipped my products. I had no prior knowledge of the issues between those companies and it was extremely unprofessional of him to treat me in the manner which he did. This ended my business venture and possibility of future purchases through Tom.

I also mentioned to FS that I had purchased parts from him and they kept their opinions to themselves. I've continued to purchase parts and tunes from the guys at FSWerks since then and have been VERY happy.

C-F-M has a lot of good resources as well. Best of luck with your build.
