Hi guys - I know this is mainly an American forum but here's some pics of my car from Northern Ireland (UK). Last July I went to the Nurburgring as a passenger in my friend's Vauxhall Nova turbo, and I think it was the week spent in awe of the awesome machinery on display that put me on a serious notion to change my car. Whilst my Peugeot 306 Rallye was a super car for hooning around in and taking to track days, I fancied something a bit more modern and easy to live with daily (and not to mention more power!) so as soon as I got home the finger was pulled out and the hunt was on.
I ran through various options such as 147 GTA, Audi S3, Clio V6, basically anything in the £6-8k bracket that was over 200bhp and post year 2000. I had toyed with the idea of pushing the boat out for an Integra DC5 or Mitisbishi Evo 6, but my insurance company specifically exclude them. After a long while deliberating I finally decided that it would be worth upping the budget slightly and going for a car I had always had a soft spot for - Mk1 Focus RS. I spent a little time looking and researching and joined the RS Owners Club and it looked almost certain that I would be requiring a trip to England. However not long after I started looking, I was put in touch with a local owner who had a car that I was familiar with already, and I went for a look.
I first saw the car at Ultimate Car Show in Larne around March last year and really fell in love with it, but I never actually expected to end up buying it! Jonny and another previous owner (Davey from Procar) had maintained it meticulously and added a number of engine mods along with a full set of carbon fibre grilles at the front and a carbon splitter. The power figure stood at a very healthy 333bhp, which was a huge bonus as I'd only really anticipated buying a standard one. Once the test drive was over a deal was struck and the rest as they say is history
Full credit for the power and condition goes to Jonny and Davey, however I have since added a few more additions to the car - US tail lights, LHD reverse light, HIDs, Ghia map lights and variable wiper stalk, Clio rear wiper, double din nav/bluetooth, and a Scangauge II. Anyway enough rambling, here's some pics from cleaning over the weekend. Better ones will follow when the weather improves!
