Ford teases 2011 five-seat C-Max people mover ahead of Frankfurt debut

Image

Ford has just released a few images of its next-generation C-Max tall hatchback ahead of the model's Frankfurt Motor Show debut, and we're as intrigued as much by what lurks under its hard candy shell as we are with its Iosis Max-derived styling. You see, the EurOval's handsome C-Max "compact multi-activity vehicle" is built on the company's new global C-platform architecture – the very same chassis that will underpin the next Focus that arrives in late 2010.

Ford is not yet disclosing much about its new Euro-market model, but the 2011 C-Max will be powered by a new 1.6-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder. Like the larger Ecoboost powerplants available in Ford's U.S. products, that means that the little I4 will be equipped with turbocharging and direct-injection for better power and fuel efficiency. No output figures for the engine have been release yet, but we suspect Ford will release horsepower and torque numbers (and further information) when the car rolls out in Frankfurt later this month.

Those wishing to purchase the C-Max will have some time to think about whether they're interested in plumping for options like the promised blind-spot detection system or the semi-self parking feature, because the model isn't slated to hit EU dealer forecourts until the second half of 2010. As this five-seater isn't slated to come to the States at all, the rest of us will just have to slake our curiosity

The article says we aren't getting the C-Max, but I thought that it had been said somewhere that we would be getting it?

yes the Kuga was the clue to let you know what Ford has coming. Expect this design for about 5 years. If you cannot wait for the Kuga to come to the US in 2011 then you can buy XC60 now and get the same vehicle.

I seem to recall hearing the the Mazda5 has sold far better than Mazda had expected, and sales went up dramatically while gas prices were very high. However, Mazda's sales targets for the 5 were modest. I'm sure the sales numbers are available online somewhere.

Are you referring to my post?

If so here is a link pertaining to the info I posted
"The Ford EUCD platform (for "European C/D-class") is Ford's global midsize car automobile platform. It is loosely based on Ford's compact C1 platform, but much engineering was done by Volvo Cars. Originally known as "C1-Plus" due to its similarity, EUCD was chosen by Ford's European operations . The first EUCD cars were introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show: Volvo's S80 and Ford's S-MAX and Galaxy.
Current models
2007– Volvo S80 sedan (introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show)
2007– Ford S-MAX large MPV (introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show)
2007– Ford Galaxy (code name CD340) large MPV (introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show)

2007– Ford Mondeo introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show
2007– Volvo V70 station wagon
2009– Volvo XC60 compact SUV

For EUCD Volvo code name is Y20 platform

Sorry for the lengthy post, but thinking this was all known information, thought I might as well make it detailed for anyone that is interested.

Not that this is factual or has any factual bearing, having sat in and drove both the Kuga and XC60, in my percepton these 2 vehicles are nothing alike, except maybe some sharing of unseen bits such as safety gear maybe and other bits.

And to add some info regarding Fords goal with EcoBoost (economy 1st goal, fast Fords in future maybe) read

MKIII Focus is the C240
Current Mondeo is the CD245

Really you did not see the similarities in the XC60 and the Kuga? I can show them too you all day long. Inside and out.

FSVP, from what I know the logistics of the US Spec Kuga in the MI plant are well under way.

Also the Fiesta ST is not dead and should learn more in the next 90 days. Go back when the C307 Focus RS was shelved and fast forward to where we are now.
