Ford at Frankfurt 2003


COLOGNE, September 2, 2003: Ford of Europe is announcing significant new additions and technologies to many of its vehicle lines at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.

§ Another petrol engine is revealed for the all-new Ford Focus C-MAX: the fuel efficient 100 PS 1.6-litre, Duratec 16V

§ Ford’s flagship Mondeo range gets freshly crafted interiors, new features and exterior upgrades, plus the Duratec SCi, Ford’s first direct-injection petrol engine

§ The Mondeo 130 PS Duratorq TDCi diesel engine becomes the first Ford powerplant to achieve Euro Stage IV emissions capability, with Fiesta and Fusion to follow in 2004

§ State-of-the-art Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) technology and a Durashift CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) option are coming for Focus C-MAX

§ New interior trims and exterior upgrades debut on the 2004 model Ford Fiesta, Fusion and Galaxy models

§ European customer interest in the limited production Ford GT supercar exceeds the confirmed allocation as vehicle development continues on target

“With a wider range of technical innovations presented in our strongest and most contemporary portfolio ever, Ford is demonstrating that style, driving pleasure, safety and environmentally responsible technology can complement each other,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford of Europe’s Vice President for Product Development.

“Our product launch pace remains aggressive,” he continued. “The new products we are showing at Frankfurt this year take our scorecard to 37, of the 45 we promised in the five year period from 2000, and at the same time we have grown market share, improved customer satisfaction, reduced product age and cut costs.”

“There’s never been a better time to buy or own a Ford,” claims Earl Hesterberg, Ford’s Vice President for European Marketing, Sales and Service. “The new models we have at Frankfurt are further proof that we have an unparalleled range of vehicles to suit every need.”
