hey all. i'm looking at picking up another car and would like it to be cheaper, 4-5 grand, but i want more power. I've heard the PGT will run a 16.1 stock in the quarter. does anyone have any specs on these cars? any one have expierence or advice? if not this car then what would you look into? also, anyone have good sites or anything to go to for info?

thanks a lot

Matt

I had one for a year, a '96 black one and never had a problem until at 90k, had oil coming out the tail pipe. Haven't driven it since. That's why I got my Focus. Overall I really enjoyed the car, its how I learned to drive a stick as well.

I had a 93GT, and I loved it! The aftermarket is slim for it. I mean it's out there, but just not tons of stuff.
The chassis is NOT stiff. Body roll is pretty bad, it needs tower bars, and sway bars big time!! The Low end torque is ok, but the car runs out of breath quickly! The power is pretty lacking for a V6 (my svt focus right now would woop up my lightly modded PGT).

That being said, I missed my probe, it looked so good!

But if you were looking for a great car to mod between 4-5K. Look for a 1st gen Eclipse GST or Talon TSI!

Those things have huge aftermarkets, and are MAJORYLY FAST! But I don't think you'd be wrong to get the PGT either, they are fun!

speaking for my probe SE. The engine is very strong. but th lack of aftermarket support takes it toll. but definately a fun mazda/ford car.

The older PGT's run like high 15's/low 16's stock. My friend had a 90' PGT with a cone filter and test pipe and a few cheap ghetto mods, but that thing was WAY faster than my car,
The newer PGTs, the 2nd gen was a 3.0 V6( I think?). Those things meant business, I think they ran like 15.4 or something

i think you should get the 92 PGT cause ethier 92 or 91 its the other body style but some of them come with a turbo or you could do as belacraf said and get and eagle talon tsi or and eclipse gst or gsx or even a plymouth laser they have 4G63's in them too but i think they only made the turbo laser 2WD
