Ford Racing has a header out for the Focus now. It is listed on their webpage. They also have a Torsen T-2 Traction Differential listed.

McNew's Automotive is a direct distributor of Ford Racing parts.

Its probably just the JBA header. Ford has been selling JBA headers for Mustangs for years, but they always claimed them as their own.

Why aren't they all listed in the motorsport catalog. There is a difference between a distributor and a dealer. We sell it for what dealers pay for it. Jobber

I tried to contact them by phone and they had no idea what I was talking about. Said I would have to wait until the 1st or I can contact ford engineers for some info. Of course he couldnt tell me how to contact them either. I hope its not a shorty header. Unless they can make one that doent crack.

Matt I've been working for a Ford dealer for over 10 years and we are a Saleen dealer as well and we are a Saleen Distributor at the shop which we wholesale to about 15 dealers in our area. We know how the system works and what the difference between dealers and distributors are. I thought I would clarify this for you.

I find this far more interesting than the re-labeled JBA header...

quote:
Torsen T-2 Traction Differential (M-4204-F20)
Featured on the 304 h.p. Ford Racing FR200 Focus, the Torsen T-2 Traction Differential for the MTX-75 transaxle is ideally suited for front wheel drive applications. Unlike conventional or speed sensing limited slip differentials, the Torsen T-2 is a full time, torque-sensing, torque-biasing differential. Immediately responds to varaible driving conditions providing better traction, acceleration and handling. Available Oct. '01. Suggested Retail: $675.00

Is that really a relabled JBA? What evidense is that based on? Also that torson LSD sounds like a relabeled Quaife. The FR200 used a Quaife did it not? Not sure, but I think so. If so, whats the point of buying more expensive relabeled merchandise? Its supposed to sell for under $600 now.

There have probably been some business shuffles and aquisitions since but I thought Torsen was a subsidiary of ZF, and a competitor of Quaife as far a diffs. I remember the Torsen first being widely used in a production car by Mazda- in the RX-7 TT and a option on Miatas.
It is just curious that quaife U.K. obviously has got it going on with the RS, while here Ford goes with Torsen even though we know that Quaife has stepped up production quite a bit for the RS and aftermarket.........just wierd.......Ford must have a hand in each bowl....

Gleason invented it I think... but I thought that a torson diff was just a TYPE of torque sensing LSD, and not a brand name.

So like the name "viscous coupling" which just describes a design, you could have a Subaru VC and a Quaife torson... But perhaps its like confusing NOS with nitrous in general. Afterall, Quaife uses the word ATB (automatic torque biasing) exclusively and I don't think they use the word "torson" at all. Also, I found references to the FR200 using a torson, but no mention of quaife, so I think you are right.

But you have to wonder... the Quaife already existed for the MTX-75, and Ford was already so impressed with it that they decided to adopt its use to the Focus RS platform. Why would they investigate some new Torson made by ZF/Gleason (whomever owns it) when they thought they had a proven winning combo with the Quaife? Seems odd.

Doh!

If you read about the other focus products, you can clearly see that they mention the manufacture. But on the header, they claim Ford Racing engineers designed it, I don't think it is the JBA.

This might be a dumb question, but if you put a "ford racing" header, or JRSC, or diff, is it warrantied by Ford? (Toyota warranties TRD Supercharger I think; as long as the dealer puts it on...)
