WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 — Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 30,000 Crown Victoria police cars and taxis because of a wheel defect, the federal government said Friday. Additionally, the world’s No. 2 automaker will recall more than 1.5 million Ford Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers made between 1998 and 2001.

1 word "FORD SUX"

On my family we own:
3 fords
1 dodge
1 nissan
1 hyundai

Last weekend all 3 fords were at the dealer b/c of FORD's poor quality, (no the problems were not related to recalls), their service SUX major balls.
I and my brother went to service our cars and they took 45 minutes just to come and help us!!!
My brother's truck is on their hands for almost 2 [censored] months, and they havent fixed it yet!!!

+ we NEVER had a single problem w/ any of the other brands mentioned here, and may I add that all the fords we got are newer than the other cars.

We are pretty pissed off with Ford, and they'll probably never see me/my family/my friends again on their sales department if they dont change their quality/attitude towards customers.

Sorry,had to vent!!!

eh, for every bad there's plenty of good. my focus is my second ford, and the only problem i've had on either of them is a broken timing belt on my escort at 100,000 miles. my family also owned a 92 mx-6, a 96 taurus, and a 2002 escape, none of which have had any serious problems.

I think the Fraternal Order of Police would take issue w/ that. The Crown Vic Interceptor is a death trap. Those wonderful people at Ford wont retrofit the fire suppression for cruisers already on the street,or make the kit avail to the public.

*sigh* wasn't that issue put to rest already? it seems to me its pretty hard to make a car do ANYTHING you want it to, if it gets rear-ended at over 80mph or so. god forbid the gas tank explodes, but at those speeds, what can you do? build it like a school bus?

Well, if ALL the fords (00 & 02 focus, 00 ranger) we own had/have problems,(compared to what we own/owned in the past), than that means their quality is [censored].

I also mentioned that their attitude towards their customers made me and my family totally unhappy (Why TF would you take 45 minutes to help your customer), not to mention that while we were waiting for help a service advisor was chatting on the phone w/ his buddy to see what they were going to do on the weekend! (yes, I overheard them talking) I was standing right in front of him at his glass door, and he made like I wasnt there, He didnt even acknowledge me! Now THAT made my day

Today I got a letter from them asking how i liked my visit to ford... oh yeah, I loved it!!!

Don't start this argument please. These cops being killed in collisions with crown vic's have been hit at like what 80-100mph.I think something is bound to break and catch fire. Can i ram your focus from behind and 100mph and see if it holds up??? No car is [censored] perfect, These cops want them to be but hey they can't be no car is or ever will be.Cops i talk to same the crown vic is the only decent police car they ever drove unlike the Crapala, Not many police like them b/c for one they break down alot and are slow compared to a crown vic.Sonme cops have been hit from behind at high speeds and lived and no fire.It happens sometimes and not the others. It all depends on the way it is hit etc.. if something pierces the tank it may catch fire and might not.Ford can't make the cars perfect, Police are in a dangerous line of work no mattewr the car they drive. It won't be perfect and police will die in them it's a fact of life.Foird made the shields and in tests they worked abd have saved cops already but it's not a perfect solution and never will be.A fire supression system no car company would install it it would cost a fortune. One way to mayube stop the fires is make a tunnel gas tank like on the new GT but u can't with the car it not designed that way. When they redesign the Vic they will probably finds ways to help bring down the likelyhood of a fire by a substantial margain.Or when ford uses a new car for cop duties like the new futura, You never know.
