Well, I thought I would give SVT lip a try since my xenon is too low...
I was happy that S/H is $6.95, which makes sense, it's just a piece of rubber. But, apparently they don't think it that way.

Here is the email I got:

------------------------------------------------

"Due to the size of the package that this part would have to be
shipped in the shipping cost is $20.00 instaed of the $6.95 that is shown
in the website.

It may not be cost effective to purchase this part online due to high
freight costs."

When shipping with either FedEx or UPS, they both use an actual weight and a dimensional weight. Large items that don't weigh much have a very large dimensional weight, and as such are calculated with the higher cost.

As somebody that actually had to price out shipping of an entire body kit, I can see their problem!

Shipping was listed as $6.95 and I went ahead to order it. There was a confirmation as well following my order. But, on the next day they emailed me and changed the whole shipping story. How is that not shady ?

its probably a huge box, or would you rather they bent it up so it owuld be small and shipping would be cheap?

I have not checked my credit card yet. This is so annoying...I copy pasted the email from the fordparts, did you guys read it ?
The guy even admitted the shipping cost from the website is not right but again this was after transaction.

Oh well, I quit complaining...I need some sleep.

i've ordered a bunch of parts from them. i think they are great guys. what they did is fair. they have a standard rate, and since your part deviated from the standard size, they tell you the charge is higher, and suggest you might not want to buy from them!! they even suggest it might not be a good idea to buy online.. i think that is good service

Yep, by no means is that shady. They got human intervention involved and allowed you to back out when the terms changed. Yeah, it would be great if their website just didn't base shipping on 10% of the purchase price, when exceptions do apply. It's not like they forced you to buy it at the higher price and they even suggested that it might not be right to buy it from them due to the higher shipping costs. What more could you expect? You'd rather them lose money on this sale? And jack up the shipping prices for everyone else in the future. Yeah you got a confirmation but in most states a contract can be broken in the first 48 hours for any reason. I personally think what they did was good business and was fair to you and themselves. I've had good experiences buying from them in the past.

In some ways, it's misrepresentation. What you advertise in price has to be made available at that cost, unless there's a disclaimer. However, by notifying you via email and not charging you yet, they don't seem to be pulling a fast one on you.

More likely, it's showing that Fordparts is just lazy in changing their website info.

Its not at all lazy... when you're dealing with a system with literally thousands of parts.. they set the system to set shipping based on weight.

Again... its an oversized part. So it can't go by that alone.

Hey... you're upset cuz you thought the shipping was cheap... so you cancelled your order. I hightly doubt that they're pissed at you for doing that.... cuz they're reliable upstanding business people.

It might be cheaper for you to buy it at you local dealer after the shipping cost. For me, it was cheaper to buy an SVT snorkel from them and pay for shipping than to get it at the dealer 5 blocks away from me.... so I went with them! Good luck to ya

I had to have the lip replaced on my SVT due to an accident. It is definately a huge part. The plastic would be deformed if it were to be put in a smaller box.

The computer program they use probably has no way of taking into account the size of an object. Should they just ship it to you for $6.95 and take a loss on it?
