If you do a search in the SVT forum you'd get the anwser

But to save you the trouble I'll anwser this.

There is a license plate bracket that will be riveted to the bumper to hold a plate if needed. It won't hang over the grille opening that much because the surface that the bracket will be installed on is big enough to accept it.

Putting this where it belongs...

The front plate for my SVT will probably be in the trunk.

I sure hope that there aren't a lot of cops in your area. I remember when I lived in CA, and got pulled over for not having a front license plate on my old cougar.

I know Illinois also has mandatory front plates.

Unfortunately, Massachusetts has mandatory front plates as well, but I still plan on keeping the front plate where it belongs, in the garage.

Really, what's the story with this? I never thought about the fact that front plates are required here, so I did an informal poll on the drive home today.

% with no front plates
all cars - 10%
nice cars - 50%
Porches - 100%
hondas with fart pipes 50%
pointy front end cars (vette, etc) - 90%
slammed '50s Caddys with grill painted like teeth - 100%

This has got to be largely unenforced. the blond girl in the Boxter and the guy in the caddy that looked like it eats buicks and defecates hondas were particularly high profile, likely to be pulled over, cars.

Is this one of those things that only gets enforced if you have a graphic of Calvin peeing on the flag, a bumper sticker that says "keep honking, I'm reloading", a very large subwoofer and a roach clip hanging from the rear view? Or substituting for all the above daring to drive with skin darker than a light coffee?

The dealer will have a bracket that comes with the vehicle already in the trunk (hatch area). If your state does not require it, then they shouldn't send it....
BTW Ottomatic...your dealer just told you that so he can survive your wrath if they accidently put the damned plate on

The bracket will still come no matter what. I've always got a bracket even though MI doesn't require a plate on the front. Also, there are some people who like to put a vanity plate on their car and need the bracket.

I talked to my contact and told them not to put on the front plate bracket or any dealer logos.

Reply, "I'll try but sometimes the vehicles come in late at night so they might do it anyways"

I'm thinking to myself, "huh, why not leave instructions for the workers not to muck with the SVT Foci?"

Anyway, I'll worry about that when I have a delivery date.

My dealer told me they would not put on a front plate here since it was not required by law.. I also told them I wanted no dealer badging and he assured me the only thing that would go on would be a license plate frame. I can live with that.

I can't speak for all dealers, but we are a front plate required state, and we don't put any holes or front plate brackets on any SVT's. Since front plates are required for state inspections, you'd have to have it in a year, when you went to renew your inspection. Not before, unless your local police officer decides to pull you over... We simply put the plate bracket, and hardware in the trunk and ask the new owner at delivery if they want it???
