Fusion Pricing Question

548 Views 17 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Red_Willy_Focus
I just went and test drove a new Fusion today and I must say I am liking it. Don't like the taillamps but I am sure the aftermarket will be nice and make some better ones. You really gotta watch yourself though as I got up to the speed limit without any concern, kinda took me by surprise. Anyway the car was 23,000 before X plan pricing and with X plan pricing and the $500 rebate the price was 20,215! Now my question is can I still negotiate a lower price for the car or is it really too new to do that? I don't mid paying that price but if I could get it lowered by say 700 or so dollars that would be awesome!!!!

X-plan is usually below invoice or right at invoice on Ford pricing. It is a set price that your company gets so that you do not have to negotiate the price.
Ford supplements the dealers on the X-plan price and they are not supposed to negotiate it at all. It is set pricing.
If you want to negotiate don't take the X-plan then they will really start you off right.
Are you paying cash or financing the car?? $700.00 will only end up saving you around $10.00 per month on a payment.
If you have a trade in, see if they'll give you $700 more for it.
Paying cash if I get one he said it would be like 22,6 with all the taxes and docking fee's and all of that good stuff!
Good luck in trying to get a lower price.
I went to my dealership where I worked for 5 years and is friends with most all the people there even the owner. I was going to see what kind of deal I can get. There isnt much markup in those (Or room too budge)I know I seen the invoices myself. I would say you could get another 500 off but thats pushing. They just want the out on the road so they are pretty much bottom $.
Yup yup I am fine with paying X plan minus rebate but if i could just knock it down a bit more I would be happy but would be happy paying 22 and a half as well!

So what $10 more (actually it’s more like $20) a month is still $1200. Wait you said 700 less. Yes then there is something called interest. Which you now have to pay on top of the extra amount of money financed.

Thinking only in monthly payments is a very dangerous thing, and can get you to waste $10,000 of dollars over your life, but that is just what finance companies want you to do. To you “$10 a month” may sound like chump change, but $1000 is a good chunk of money!
how is it 23 grand when they are advertised at like 16 and 17 grand??

unless the one you test drove had every option on it

No need to explain this to me it is what I do for a living. Actually it is around $14/month to be exact. But unless someone is paying cash which 8 out of 10 buyers are not they are all chasing a monthly payment.

80% of the people out there would buy a car at any price if you could get the monthly into their range. Hell I would bet the statistics are more around 90%.

That is why they invented the 4 square write up sheet in the car business. To find the customers hot spot. Is the price, trade, down payment or monthly payment. Find the pain and work from there.
The car has an MSRP of 23K but the X plan is 20,200. But with tax, title, registration, and fee's he said it would add about 2K on to the price. So tha is what I am looking at. Plus it is more expensive for the v6 the only options it had was Sport package or whatever you call it with 6 disc changer etc, and ABS!!!
what is an x plan exactly?
Can't realy buy it yet Focuspl99 till my insurance company sends me my check for my camry:):) Then I will make my final decision but it was hella nice!
I thought that When you use the X-plan, Ford won't allow the dealer to charge those outragous "Doc" fees. Depending on the dealer, that should save you $300 to $500 .
That is a good question OutaFocus the doc fee is only 129 though so yeah it would save a bit but I am not making a big fuss about tha unless they aren't suppose to be doign that!

Can you find out the def. answer on that?
Ford can only control what the dealer charges for the car the rest of the fees are usually controlled or capped by the state or county governments.

If I remember correctly X-Plan is 3 or 4% over the employee pricing.

X-Plan is setup for employees of companies that work with Ford. IBM, Sirius Radio, a bunch of companies are setup.

You go to your company get a code and when the dealer registers the sale they get money back from Ford just like dealer cash.
Welp got the call that my camry is totalled so now I can begin to get serious. A fusion will cost me 1,856 to Insure a Year with 200K/300K coverage in MA!!! Gonna check on some truck quotes to see what they rank as!!
