What is a glasspack? I keep hearing it and still dont know what exactly it is, can I add it to my Vibrant to make it louder?

 

glasspack is a straight through tube with perforations, surrounded by a larger diameter tube. The space between the perforated inner tube (which is the same diameter as your normal exhaust pipe, usually) and the outer tube, is filled with fiberglass batting (like insulation).

All the fiberglass does is absorb a little bit of the higher pitched sounds. Otherwise, it's damn loud. You would use a glasspack in place of a muffler, or in the focus, you could use it in place of the resonator (the box the tailpipe exits from), retaining your muffler (which is near the middle of the car), or you could replace the muffler in the middle of the car with a glasspack and run straight pipe out the back.

 

I had an 81 Datsun truck with the 2.2L. It had a straight pipe after the cat with a Pacesetter tip on it. It was actually not that loud. It had a pretty good sound too a little buzzy but still nice.

 

should be pretty loud i used to have a glasspack on my 2.3 4 banger dodge d-50 truck
it was almost annoyingly loud.

i dont recommend them. use a good flowmaster
or some such .
