We elect them, then they take more steps toward the totality of the police state. Personally I think it's already too late, everything is a rule backed up by a threat. They want us to be bloody sheep as it is. Hence this kid always (nearly) being in trouble. I could give a *&**#$& less about their petty attempts at totalitarianism. It's always been us against them and that's the way I've always seen it. My cars would be safe for road use without their over the top rules, since my values are focused on being an asset to civilization instead of a liability, unlike many.

It won't be long and it will be impossible to comply with 'all' the rules of the police state. Go ahead and laugh, I'm not kidding.
